UPDATE: - I totally missed the fact that the 20L sized 4.0s are missing the interior elastic pocket. This limits the 20Ls to a max of 30lbs in a plate pocket. Could be a dealbreaker for some. For others, you can look at it as a weight savings! - It appears they've changed the webpage for the Long Range Ruckers. These models do NOT include the hip belt as was originally indicated on the site. I'm not a fan of this change as I've complained before about access to hip belts in matching colors. With the price increase and now missing the hip belts that's something to consider.

Thanks for a great review man. Just curious if you've found any good way to secure more than just a 30# plate? Without the elastic pocket, it's great as an event ruck, but for regular training I generally go heavier and I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how to make this ruck work with multiple plates or a 45# plate.

@@robertbarnes5783 sandbag or old school bricks is all I’ve come up with. Best bet is to get a 25L for the ability to carry the 45lb plate plus the others.

Great video. Just one thing, according to the website the 20L and 25L have the same plate carrying pockets. (Both versions have the long and short pockets).

Thanks for directing me to this video, JB. I like the multicam, but man, no front pocket. That’s a bit of a bummer. I appreciate the concept of eliminating weak points, but it will make this bag harder to grab for a weekend trip, or even for some light travel. Great stuff, can’t wait to see your 4.0 review.

Yeah, the 33L and 39L versions are the only ones that look like the 3.0s...but that's a lot of bag for a rucking ruck

Is it me or does it look like they eliminated the Elastic pocket on the standard 20L 4.0? Wouldn’t you be able to still hold more weight in the 3.0 by using a larger plate even if it’s not secured? I think you’ve shown it before that you can do the longer GR plates in the elastic pocket where it doesn’t look like there an option anymore unless you go to the 25L+

see (2) above, it appears this way, unless you and me both are missing something on configuration of pockets. I totally agree with you on the second point.

I think you guys may be correct. I looked at all the photos again and I totally missed that before. I sent an email into GORUCK to ask the question. I think you're right and there's a typo on the website about the 45lb plate. I'll let you know what they say.
@JBOutside1

Just to close the loop. You’re correct. The 20L does NOT have an elastic pocket. Great catch!

(1) Why no velcro slash pocket? (2) 20l appears to have gotten rid of the expansion pocket, this mitigates additional weight carry for jog around the block rucks. Also kind of forces you to buy the 25L for 45# plates. (3) A single main compartment 33L Rucker LR would have been a sweet differentiator. Market feedback so far seems grim.
@JBOutside1
@JBOutside1 2 жыл бұрын
1. Agree totally, I use the slash pocket all the time. I don't think I'd like it as a velcro option. 2. Agree. I missed that totally in my video. I'll confirm and post an update. 3. That would be interesting to see but it would be a completely different bag from what they currently have, although just dimensionally.

Do you think the extra padding on the top of the pocket would help create a “shelf” to help carry a sandbag? I know I’ve cut a pool noodle to fit in the ruck to help create that shelf to hold a sandbag up there without the need to hold.
@JBOutside1
@JBOutside1 2 жыл бұрын
Good idea. It might but I doubt it. It’ll definitely fill out the top a bit but I’m betting it’s too narrow to be very effective. Just have to go big and get that bag wrapped around your shoulders more 😜

I bought the long range in 33 L. I was in the market for a Rucker and a GR2. Hopefully this can fill both roles in the same bag. I wasn’t to impressed with the Rucker 4.0. I wonder how secure those pockets will be without zippers. We shall see. Thanks for the great videos.
@JBOutside1
@JBOutside1 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's not as big of a jump as the 3.0 was for sure. I think you'll be happy using the 33L in double duty mode. As long as you can go without the laptop compartment. Plenty of pockets otherwise

Really appreciate your videos! I'm new to rucking, and kind of bewildered by the range of Goruck's bags and the various applications they're each tailored to, etc. So your walkthroughs of the bags and their functions are really helping clear things up. Thank you! One thing I'm not clear on since there are so many different variations of different packs on their site, and so much is sold out now because of all the supply chain disruptions. Does the appearance of the Rucker 4.0 mean that there aren't going to be any more 3.0s for sale? Or will they restock and sell 3.0s alongside the 4.0s? Because I'd buy a 3.0 right now, but the 4.0 is a no sale with those interior velcro pouches and the lack of an outside pocket. (Okay, zippers can crush, but the solution there is to not throw your bag down hard on concrete. I mean the bag would probably burn if you soaked it in gas and lit it up too. So you don't do that.) I note their sandbags are sold out as well and people have been speculating about photos of a Sandbag 2.0 that also looks very stripped down from the original. I'm kind of worried that the features and build quality are starting to decline across the board and I discovered Goruck just a day too late.
@JBOutside1
@JBOutside1 2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t anticipate a restock of 3.0s, but that’s just a guess. I suppose there could be a shipment of 3.0s that arrives late somehow. There is a pretty active reseller market on FB groups and on eBay. Better quality and prices on FB groups. The 4.0 will be a great design as well but I’m with you and not initially a fan of some of the changes. I’ll make my final verdict after I see one though. As for the sandbags I’m not sure when we’ll see them launch but I’ve heard they’re stripped down but a better design overall. Again, I haven’t seen or handled them personally. In all cases, Scars will have your back if you break something.

Hi- I’m having trouble picking a bag, I’m 5’10” and 170 and feel a 25l is too big but don’t want to be restricted to a 30lb plate with the 20l, the bullet seems way too small but can at least hold a 45lb long plate. What’s a dude to do? Haha thanks

Tough call but at 5'9" I can made the 25L Rucker work for me. It's just a little bit tall for me but it works. If you want one bag to do it all I think the 25L Rucker will be perfect and give you the plate capacity you're looking for.

Do the plates for the 20/25L sit in the same spot on your back at the 33L long range rucker?
@JBOutside1
@JBOutside1 8 ай бұрын
so the 33L is the same height as the 25L so it would be the same. Tough to compare the 20 and 25L except to say on me (5'9", 20.5" torso) the 20L lumbar pad fits in the small of my back perfectly. The 25L rides a little lower but is not terrible.
