My Mom and Sister suffered so much that I felt so releaved when they finally passed away but then I felt total remorse for thinking that.. It is a complete roller-coaster of feelings.. Don't feel remorse for being relieved your loved ones passed away. We don't want the people we love to suffer. When that suffering is constant with no hope of being relieved or cured, death becomes the only relief to the suffering. It's so hard to watch that happen to people we love. It's understandable to want them freed of that pain and suffering. Your response was understandable and probably universal. In the west we don't talk about the fine details of death and the aftermath for those left behind. We should because the understanding would make the process a lot easier for relatives and loved ones.
