Modern stuff nowadays is just commercial and has nothing to do with real music which is being created with passion and soul 90's and 00's were times when money and pressure of music labels weren't on so as strong position as today

Once the money showed up it become commercial and a lot of the unique and genuine songs were mostly gone. There are always a few gems but in general it is a business more than an art. I "think" CAKE is a band that kind of just makes whatever they want and don't really look to recreate that mainstream sound and that is why you get some unique (and also not so great) songs from them.

Tiesto's good but he's a far cry from the king of dj's, there's too many different dj's remaking and remixing songs to crown a king IMO.
