I love how passionate you guys are about Kino and here they are sending you stuff! Awesome! Really fun review by the way!! I picked up Camp Nowhere recently from Barnes and Noble's Kino sale. Thanks for posting!

Thanks so much! They just have such a broad catalog that release underappreciated gems like this. Camp Nowhere is a great choice, just in time for summer! That's another really fun movie, NO RULES! Haha, thanks for watching 😎

Back in the review game! Congrats on the Kino affiliation! I should probably check this out, John Candy usually makes me laugh! I’d write more, but I’ve gotta return some videotapes! 📼 Nice shirt!

Awesome you're getting in some review copies and well deserved. Hopefully more videos now too! Great review of this one and glad to hear it's worth the upgrade. I'm planning on getting it at some point. Got to have it for the John Hughes collection and really enjoyed it when we watched it. I liked the music too and ended up buying "King Kong Five."

Oh, you know Louis loves the music, too! The kiddo actually recognized the movie from some music videos he watched, so she sat there and watched like a half hour of the commentary track with me! 😂 awesome commentary btw

Thank you for this thoughtful piece! Will definitely have to pick this up. Saw it in theaters and had the poster on my wall as a teenager. Jennifer Connelly was one of my first crushes.

I think the poster might end up on my wall soon, since my husband is crushing on Frank Whaley! 😂 You'll definitely love that glorious high definition release 💯

Happy to see you posting new videos! If you notice, John Hughes trailers always have stuff that wasn't in the film itself--the teaser for SHE'S HAVING A BABY has an entire subplot, FERRIS BUELLER has a character not in the film, and PLANES, TRAINS has a bunch of moments that didn't make it into the final cut!
@XtineFeaturette3 жыл бұрын
That's wild, I don't typically watch trailers, but I'll need to start, just to compare!

Great review, love this movie and brings alot of memories and very nostalgic.. I also agree too, Jennifer's role was marketed alot for this movie... so true about the Microwave thing you mentioned..

Was totally expecting Target to have this new release in the store. Nope I had to order it on their website. Go figure??
@XtineFeaturette2 жыл бұрын
Wow, that's annoying. My target's movie section is so tiny, I can't even go there anymore expecting to find anything. Such a shame.

That was a nice review, and it does not give the plot away. As a person who has watched this movie well over 100 times, I would say it is worth watching. There is actually more to this movie than looking at young Jennifer Connelly. When you watch it, see if you can figure out which famous town the movie ends up in, based on what talents the two main characters are displaying throughout the movie.
@XtineFeaturette2 жыл бұрын
It's been a while since I watched this, did they imply it takes place in a particular city? Thanks for watching my video!
@JakeMcClake22 жыл бұрын
@@XtineFeaturette They did not imply anything. The two main characters in the movie Career Opportunities, display a certain talent throughout the movie, that the people of this small town (Monroe, Missouri) they live in, misunderstand as "Lying" and "Teasing". Just to let you know, this movie then ends with these two characters in the town of... Hollywood, California. Now that you know that it can be a lot of fun to try watching it again and see if you can spot all of the scenes in this movie that the two main characters, Jim Dodge (played by Frank Whaley) and Josie McClellan (Played by Jennifer Connelly) display a talent for .... Acting.

@@XtineFeaturette It’s a very underrated movie: director Martin Bell made this movie as an “acted” version after his earlier documentary “Streetwise”(which was released by Criterion just this past week as well).
@Wildcock233 жыл бұрын
You’re lucky to get it early! I pre-ordered it and still haven’t gotten it yet… Actually I haven’t watched the movie before either! My hopes are low though: critics didn’t seem to like it and nobody I know has even heard of it.
@XtineFeaturette3 жыл бұрын
That's interesting, some people did get theirs early from pre-ordering though Kino. I guess it's a lesser known John Hughes movie, but it's fun! Definitely worth watching. Let me know what you think of it. Thanks for the comments 😎

Great review, I saw this in a theatre on the wide screen. It was the first time I saw Jennifer Connelly and the second time I saw frank whaley. The first time I saw frank Whaley was in a Tom cruise movie called Born on the Fourth of July. I enjoyed career opportunities and bought it on google play in HD. I just ordered it on blu ray from Amazon, looking forward to getting it. I have some great titles on kino Lorber Blu ray like young doctors in love, the falcon and the snowman, my bodyguard, country and many more to mention.

You have such complex lips. If they ever make a Mona Lisa 2, you should be the model. But regarding the movie, it’s one I normally would never pick up, but now I’m intrigued dammit. (Sorry for the two buts in one sentence, but I’m a but man).

I haven't heard that before, but thanks I'll take it! 😎 I've heard that critics weren't too favorable about this movie, but it gets a lot of love and has many fans. If you like movies from that era, it's definitely worth a watch, almost a period piece, at this point, considering that was 30 years ago!
