Watching thinking "please don't mention some idiot burning up 410 on a round of DTL one arvo at Werribee about 10 years ago" Relieved at the end...

I shoot for game a 20 gauge Berretta 32 inch barrel silver pigeon. Heavy gun. 34 gram no. 4 cartridges. Recoil not a problem .

Yeah, I bought my 11year old Daughter a youth model 20ga o/u. It is a beautiful gun, but it is heavy and she is less than 100lbs. Then I went out and bought me a cheap o/u 20ga so we could shoot together with similar guns and the same ammo. My shot gun is significantly lighter than her expensive one and kicks like a 12ga.

16ga is making a comeback in North America. What are your thoughts on this? I know that it is fairly common for hunting in Europe and is gaining popularity in hunting in North America. In theory 16ga should provide the best ballistics.

I worry about the cost of getting 16ga ammo, but a great gauge to use. As stated the ballistics are on the money

Good Videos, but here in the US it's hard to translate from metric to standered. Thinking it be helpful if you also gave your measurements in standered. Keep those videos coming .....Thanks

lol you guys need to move into the 21st century :) Yes its is a dilemma. we have the same issue when we talk barrel length's, shot velocity etc which are generally talked about in imperial lengths not metric. It is a crazy sport

In general what do you recommend for a beginner small (22 year old, 5'2 #110) female in terms gauge, action and barrel length for shooting trap, skeet and sporting clays? When my daughter shoots my 12g/30" the LOP is too long and it's too heavy, or front heavy. Thanks.

Larry if it has to be for Trap then we can only recommend a 12 gauge if she wants to win, but to begin with she may get by with a 30" @0 gauge. This will be adequate for Sporting and on the money with Skeet. You will need to get the stock cut to fit her correctly.

Great vid...but...the 12 is too heavy for us older people and so we have gravitated to the 20 guage and have not looked back. It is lighter and shoots perfectly fine. I own the beretta over n under and it is my beat shooting shot gun ever. I also hunt with it and I can shoot this lighter shotgun because I can handle it better.

Its a good answer. I guess we are slightly trap/competition orientated, but we certainly agree that if carrying a heavy shotgun becomes a problem then you have no alternative. Personally I love having fun with a 28g, but wouldn't recommend trying to win a Trap comp using one.

What velocity would you recommend for just standard american "down the line" trap? Maybe this would be a video all on it's own...
