Sorry for the inconvenience of re uploading this. I had to mute one of my favorite notes in this video :(
Gaither Music 🤦‍♂️
Here’s a compilation of gospel low notes C2-Bb0. A live Bb0, crazy stuff. That’s Steve Cross and Nic Val for you.
Had this planned for last week, but school got in the way of editing time. Anyways, here it is now.
Thanks for Watching, sorry for any mistakes, and of course, the muted clip :)

I once stood shoulder to shoulder with George Younce on stage, and I can attest that he needed no mic to hit those notes. I played many times for London Parris, he was a beast. But the undisputed, most amazing was Leroy Abernathy. He taught many of these great bass singers. I sat beside him on a piano stool and heard him clearly, in perfect intonation, hit the lowest note on the piano keyboard, effortlessly. And LOUD!

Sumner. Not Summers. I saw him twice. The first time I saw him with Elvis in 1977. He rattled the entire Civic Center. The second time was around 1985 at an outdoor gospel sing. Actually met him and got him to sign a cassette cover. Takes several packs a day to keep the glottal fry this deep.

The difference, I believe, is that many can hit a low note...but JD could carry a melody in that low range and stay there. Few are the bass singers that can get in and stay in the lowest of range and sing and stay in tune.... JD seems to be the standard for comparison...

Ken Turner is great. Mikhail Zlatopolsky, who is not on the list, is the most impressive in my opinion, because not only could he hit a B0, he could be heard hitting a B0 over an entire choir. (The song for the B0 is called "Prayer for the Dead" in case you're curious).

Is vocal chords are roughly twice the size of a normal bass singer, given his small stature, means he does not have much room left in his throat to project like most people can. His bottom is almost endless, and despite poor critics, it's all natural well past the -3rd octave. His live music is much much better than his recordings, especially when he sings with other bass singers. It gives a good comparison to just the sheer depth of his actual voice compared to other great basses like Rodney Brit. Rodney is a freak, but compared to Storms, is just a child like noise.

These are all great. But I wonder about the B naturals when there are musicians. Good musicians can play in the key of B. Us normal people have trouble with that. I wonder if the playback speed is off and it's a C or Bb?
