I love hearing the Gospel preached and emphasized over and over. Thanks brothers.

The law exposes the problem and the gospel is the remedy.

Great way to put it.

Amazes me that so many people want to live under the law instead of the freedom and grace and mercy of God which comes through faith in Jesus Christ.Perhaps law becomes like a safety blanket or, dare I say, an opportunity for boasting.

Great discussion as always and very refreshing, especially the trying to cycle with the bike chain off or the pedal to the metal engine not engaged with the drivetrain. I am a recent covenantal, confessional reformed dude. Coming out of contemporary bapticostal evangenjellyialistic denominations I now have an observation regarding the covental, confessional reformed camp that I have been involved with for over a year. Why is it that I now get the tone or tincture that the Word and Sacrements have now actually become not a means to an end, that being experience with union with Christ, crucified, resurrected, ruling and coming again, but now an actual means of grace in and of themselves? What I mean is that when preaching, teaching, praying, fellowshiping, the observance of the table and baptism become void of the essence of our new birth and creation in the New Adam the old Adam kicks in, corrupting the means of Christ's grace into our means of grace by which we expect Christ to respond, which is in effect a disguised for of legalism. After a while I sense that we get a joyless mechanical orthodoxy similar to the problem encountered in the church at Ephesus as explained in the John's book of the revelation. Just like Jesus' parents, how is it that we can actually lose the Lord in the midst of temple worship? Loss of first love is a continual danger and reformed, confessional theology in practice is no guarantee of deliverance from a joylous mechanical observance of all the regulated means of grace. In fact, in this instance the means of grace has become another law, similar to the canon laws of Roman Catholicism and Orthodoxy, so reformed traditions without love of Christ are in essence actually the same legal beast but just in different garb. The means of grace are not the means of grace because we do them but because they are energized through the one who is the source of all grace Himself, Jesus Christ. If we lose Him in the midst of practicing the means He has given us, the devil truly has distorted the essence of the church community and pure worship of God. "For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. And as for all who walk by this rule, peace and mercy be upon them. " Galatians 6:15-16

We put our trust in the old sinful nature. Good doctrine says the old nature has been crucified with Christ on the cross. Ok! Now God comes in, reveals our sinfulness and freely lives his life through us.

Yes God rejoices in kur weaknesses for His glory. Im 63 on disability and God's allowed me to give over 500 bibles to peoples in other nations that don't have one. Time 2 and see how nany may read the bible for the first time. It bluws me away how God does use us for His glory through the works that He's decreed. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. - Ephesians 2:10 I've been privileged to see God vear more fruit this last year than many many years previous and I'm still not where I think I should be. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. - John 15:5 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. - John 15:7-8. I just wanna bear more fruit for His glory so more praise can go to Him.

So funny, If say I keep the seventh day Sabbath as my day of worship - I am self righteous If I fast as a health benefit or some new trend, thats cool - if I mention that I am fasting - I am self righteous If I am a vegetarian that's cool, if I decided not to eat pork or to keep kosher - again I am the one that is the problem. We complain that the ten commandments are removed from schools and public places, but we ignore the 4th commandment. ( ITS A WITNESS AGAINST US!!!) No my dear brothers it seems we have lost the concept of God, there is no more reference or fear for the Lord ( Hosea 6:6) the Gospel and Gods grace is free but cheap! Verses like be Holy for I Am Holy... Hebrews 6:1 ; 9:24- 28 ; 10:26 yes there will be a final judgment not unto wrath (I believe Rom8 Matt 12) but imagine standing before our amazing God and thinking what do you not want Him to ask you about. My brother we are saved so we need to strive to a presentable " sacrifice" to The Lord our God.

Is Matthew 5:29,30 speaking of mortification or is he using that language in the first use of the Law ?

@@michealferrell1677 I can only point you to the gospel. “That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are in Rome. I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, then to the Greek.” Romans 1:15-16 BSB

Two false money making pastors that tickle the ears of their congregation with false doctrine. Long winded conversation that confuses the listeners. Let me help you. Count the Costs Fear God. Obey God. Die to Sin. Purify Yourselves Receive Grace.

You've got the order wrong and if you have to do all that to receive grace, it isn't good news because no one does any of those things very well.

@JW-tg1nn It is the gospel whether you like it or not. Repent or perish. Paul said bear fruit in keeping repentance. These two guys on the microphones are milk salesmen. They don't know how to fry the bacon (Meat). He came to die for your sins and to destroy the works of the devil. You cannot return to sin and live. Hebrews 10:26 It is our gospel. You get one do over not two.
