I really appreciate that you not only just us what to play, but you explain why you play it. This goes a long way towards improvisation.

Another important lesson on phrasing and when not to play, not many others teach that! And of course, congratulations on another unique "rescue", this beauty deserves to be played after all those years :)

Beautiful soulful piece and lovely to listen to. I like the fact that the song has a definite ending which matches the backing track - that makes it a really useful piece to learn.

The clearest explanation of that #4 diminished chord!! Now I can always see that change easily. You’re a great teacher! I’ve always wanted to get into gospel blues!! I love that 3 6 2 5 turnaround!!

My kind of blues too! Nothing beats gospel sung or played with soul; nothing! Only thing missing from the repertoire is an "aggressive" blues like SRV; my opinion. Rock on!

A lot of pure hold in this week's lesson... Love the takeaway licks but I agree with JoLa- phrasing is such an under-taught concept. This is the perfect style to reinforce phrasing techniques. Congrats on the Strat, she's a beauty and in fine shape for as old as it is!

I knew that guitar was special as soon as I saw it in your hands, but what's more important is that it's in good hands. That axe was meant for the kind of sounds you're getting out of it. Super sweet lesson today.

So true about phrasing, dynamics & emotion in playing. I often see clips of people playing as many notes as fast as they can with heavy effects & tricks which is devoid of emotion, style & just doesn’t sound good to me. Some people like that but it’s not for me. Another great lesson Brian. I’ve learned more from you in the last few months than in the whole previous year of learning to play. 🙏 thank you.

Hi, I have been watching your videos and I just found myself really getting benefit in learning Blues music foundation. I spent already quite sometime watching here and I really had immense benefit from you. Just to inform you that I have been Blues and Pentatonic scales for one year now and I am pretty fast and familiar with all five positions but I have not tried yet so much my skill in it.

Glad to have the regular and slow jam track (with and without guitar) as a premium member, cause this one is gonna be in heavy rotation as I practice. Can I get a witness??!! :)

I'm commenting again... Good "blues faces" but not really comparable to my all time hero BB King! Best thing you've ever done! A truebluesman can't help the "blues faces"; lol! A real pleasure to listen to this and play it. I guarantee... that you'll "hear something" while playing it that you want to add; great lesson!

Back in the 70's my high school friend that lived around the corner ,I remember he bought a fender 1962 jass master for 250$. He still has it....he looks at it as it's an old $250. Guitar still. I told him what it was worth his eyes popped out of head. The thing about that guitar It literally sounds 1960's. Play anything you want and it sounds like 1960's. That may be a hindrance to like metal guys. But it just sounds pure 1960's. You can not make it sound modern . It's a very cool guitar STILL

Great Vintage Strat Brian. Your theory about it being pre cbs if it's a small headstock is definitely one of the conditions...does it have an L series number...my '65 does and that's one of the more deciding factors I believe...luv it anyway!

@@activemelody I'm envious over at guitar I've been looking for that guitar to. They're either so expensive I can't touch, or they have been monkeyed with so much guitar player can never have enough guitars LOL I just picked up a BB preamp running it through my old Fender Blues DeVille so far I really like it.
