Since the mind 1980s I've only played in the woods. So speed ball is unfamiliar. I've questions after watching paintball in this format. 1. Paintball velocity. Are the markers chronographed? My experience with woods ball tournaments required a chronograph after each game. I'm not seeing any evidence of such checks in this speedball format. 2. If there is a velocity limit, what is it? 3. I've heard several times the announcers refer to a location on the field by a letter-number. Apparently, there is a grid. Please explain its layout. 4. Is the length and width of the playing area standardize? If so, what is it?

1. Players are chronographed before each point as they step out on the field. 2. Limit is 300 fps. 3. No grid... simply an analogy. Similar to a football field. The "50" is the middle of the field. Work backwards from there. The shape of the bunkers are often referred to by certain names as well such as "dorito" - triangular shape of bunker similar to the chip brand. "Snake" is the long lay down structure that usually runs the length of the field. 4. Yes. 150 feet long by 120 feet wide. Hope this helps.

@@WOP73 Thanks for responding. Most of what you described about the "50" and the types and shapes of the bunkers, I had figured out. Yet, there is still one more cryptic reference from the announcers I'm unclear about. I've heard them say, "D1, D2, and the D side." It was these terms that had me thinking there may be a grid overlay of the field which you say is not the case. So, what were the announcers referring to?

@@MichaelPower212 D1, D2, etc is short for "1st dorito", "2nd dorito"... The "D side" is in reference to the "dorito" side as opposed to the "snake side" and/or the center of the field.
