When you cut the camper shell seal. Cut the rubber in-between the pinch molding a couple inches longer then the pinch molding length on one side. Then when it's installed lay the longer side on the inside of the other side with a bit of silicone between them. This create a better water proof seal for ya. Haven't had any leaks since I started doing it this way on the blow thru's I have built for customers. Great content, I like the commentary too. Hope this helps.

Doug if the metal brackets that were near the ports are rusting, wouldn’t there be a concern that the would near or behind them is getting wet also? You should consider bed lining up to the ports or seal the wood in some fashion. Just something to think about. Love the videos man keep up the good work!
@ccmaster866 жыл бұрын
Well a Tonneau Cover with a big piece of acrylic or glass inserted in the middle lined with some subtle white LED's on the inside so you could see the box, and it would glow at night a little bit, would look pretty dope. Would draw attention to it though which you're probably trying to avoid by not being able to see the Box unless you walk up and look in.

Hey Doug. If once you get the UV lights in and it still doesn't make the cradle glow like you want (I'm sure it'll look better once they're properly placed inside) paint the inside of the box white. It'll refract the light better, allowing the paint to absorb more.

What do you need the vents for? Are they to air out the truck, after you buss a grumpy? Seal the cabin. Keep that pressure in, and buss that grumpy, just as the bass hits that right low note, and boom watch all the windows blow out.

Just a tip. Try to always cut inside cuts, like holes, first because the sheet will be much less likely to move and be off by a blond one. Guess it doesn't matter as much for holes you drill after, but just something to keep in mind.

you should weld on a circular piece the same size as the port tube so that the block off plates are inserted into the port holes essentially filling the holes in the box and cab sealing it from the outside elements. unless the accordion boot is strong enough by itself.

I feel like it wouldn't be a terrible idea to look into custom molding some seamless gaskets for your blow-through. Unfortunately, it would have to be silicone or something like that and not a vulcanized rubber, but it might seal better. Either way, you keep doing you.

You're also supposed to leave the inner accordion part longer than the sides, so once installed the accordion part of the boot can overlap, leaving you with no gaping holes, as demonstrated here.
