Randomly came up on this and I tried to cancel it b4 it played. I was like “I ain’t tryina see no drummer!” And 5 secs in- I was traumatized w/this brotha! One of the dopest I’ve heard & I’ve heard them all. May be late to the party b/c I’ve never heard of him. But today, I’m a fan!

Why do gospel drummers have to do all this ? Where is thaaaa Pocket groove ?? Give me a groove drummer any day every day. That’s too much

@@Freewill4us man yes. Lots of these Gospel drummers are forgetting the role of the drummer which is to lock in with the bass player and to keep the groove of the music flowing steady and to create space in the music. But All this busy busy drum solo stuff…….SMH
@Freewill4us2 жыл бұрын
@@herbiemusic Totally messy. He's not even locked in with the bass. No dynamic at all. Blasting all the way angry from the beginning to the end. This man destroyed the vocalist and the rest of the band. I love classic Black Gospel compare to this trash. Hope they stop doing it and come back to basic.

@@carloswillliams3831 where is thaaaaa pocket with all these Modern Gospel drummers ?
@dulistanheman2 жыл бұрын
Sorry bro, this is too much. Band should put *Music First* above all the band members. Gospel music should put *God message* through *Music,* while the band members united to deliver *It* in *One* message. This is totally overpowered the singer and the rest of the band and put the drum as the main attention. Even Michael Jackson song drum pretty simple but on pocket. He's one of the best drummer out there who humble themselves to put music first above him. Michael also did the same thing. Gospel has even better than that.

Very well described. Music first, not the individual musician. Gospel music broken now.

But on the flip side we praise God that skillful men are jamming in the kingdom.. for the purposes of encouraging other drummers... But let's not forget the whole picture
@dulistanheman2 жыл бұрын
@@knyamadi Very skillful artist always play simple but spot on. Let's called the great B.B King and Miles Davis who always use *Space* as deep music. They don't preach using Christian message, but they still use *spiritual term* in their music. Those space talk deep to all of us. I even fall in love to their records until today. How about Bill Evans...? He's doesn't sounds Jazz to my ears, but he play beautifully on the key. Marvin Sapp record "Never Would've Made It" drum is on Point. Simple, hit hard at the best moments. Otherwise we couldn't hear Marvin's voice at all. The drum play quietly most of the time. As for me, the drum was the star because he's one with the whole band. I'm not sure if he's the same drummer as this man. If he does, then he should go back to the same classic style where he let the Holy Spirit speak to all listener other than our own limited skill. The same thing with *God Favored me* song where he sang with Hezekiah Walker and DJ Rogers. The drum dynamic totally bring the whole song to another level. This man can play like whatever they wanted *only* when he play instrumental such as intersection where the Vocalist taking break, or when the other singers (backing vocal) trying to bring the crowd to fire again when left by the main Singer. But, he still have to play according to Christian spirit. Thanks for reading.

@AndreMitchellTV2 жыл бұрын
@@Gaijinproductions who we play for is always for The Most High, the assignment for us drummers is supportive role not a lead role especially in our genre. I've learned over the years and playing especially gospel music perfect blend of musicians supports the lyrics and singers so the message can go out.
