Thanks for bringing 450 reviews to the Uke community around the Globe. Great Uke, really do like the looks and the sound is clear and I don’t mind the bright end. Totally agree with the looks, it has a lot going on for it, well done Caravelle Kitchen. You have a great break Baz and see you when you get back.

I was very, very lucky last week and managed to get a secondhand Super Baritone Prototype from Caravelle Kitchen. I am absolutely over the moon. This instrument is a joy to play and yes, to hold. It feels so good!

Wow I love the looks! It is beautiful. I think the grain looks great. I like the tie bar and the shape of the head. I agree with you that it should have side dots, and one at the tenth. The price is high but worth it I believe. The sound is bright to me but has a slight hollow sound in it but it does work. The good strings work with this. Nice one overall……thanks for another nice review…. DOC

Congratulations on the milestone review Baz. Another excellent one too. As you said, this looks stunning. Great choice of woods especially the top. The grain in that mango is really lovely. My only personal gripe (very small) is the cutaway. I just don’t like or need one. But that’s just me. I’m sure these will sell well as they are obviously extremely well built and at a very reasonable price. Cheers!

Really like your reviews Barry, it’s refreshing to not see some paid presenter pretending every uke they come across, (from the same manufacturer somehow!), is the best ever they’ve ever seen. And not to one up other commenters, but I’ve bought four on your recommendations, (and my own taste obvs) and all are excellent. Keep up the good work and enjoy your break mate.

A real stunner, no doubt. I hadn't intended to comment because you said so much about its appearance, design, and features, but when you played it, I had to say something. What tone! I loved it, amazing. I believe these clamshell-construction ukes are here to stay, and they sound great. Great review; we don't mind when you ramble. Congrats on 450!

Thank you for continuing to bring amazing ukuleles to our attention. Without these videos, I’d be a total ukulele snob, thinking that the Hawaiian K brands are the only ukuleles worth playing. Not to take anything away from them, I love my KoAloah and Kanile’a, but I now know that there are others worthy of our attention. This one is another amazing one. I’ve been on the Bonanza web site a lot as well. So many great small luthiers out there doing great work. Thank you so much!!!

Geez. no side dots? Such a great instrument... who looks at the fretboard when you play? I am guessing he might not be a musician?

Yes he's a musician - don't know any luthier who isn't?
@petestack26 күн бұрын
Lots of people look at the fretboard when they play, including me (left-handed on stringed instruments despite being a natural right-hander because I'm missing a LH finger, so no side dots for me unless the instrument's built that way). And, yes, I'm a musician too!

Ahh, so you won't be here until after our presidential election over here across the pond. Perhaps you can play a fanfare or a dirge for us, depending on... Anyway, I love these reviews. When I look at an instrument like this in your hands, the thing that always comes to mind is, what is a ukulele? Or what is a ukulele FOR? With other instruments, a violin, a clarinet, a trumpet, a piano, I think I know what it's for. But I don't know, something about the diminutive size and the variations in approach to the instrument, the fact that it's in some circles more a totem than a musical instrument, a bit of social glue, a conversation starter, a song starter, a let's have a good time starter, as well as a musical instrument that can have some amazing musical qualities, or not; a piece of craft art that either stands out or does not... there are so many axes along which one can attempt to categorize or evaluate a ukulele, it's kind of mind boggling. And yet you always manage to boil it down to something graspable in these reviews. We learn about and get to see the impact of the build quality on you, and we can put ourselves in your place and know how we would feel if that were our ukulele. We get to hear the sound of it, and you point out some of the nice and maybe not so nice features of it. I'm so glad I stumbled into this world. Thanks for yet another super helpful review... #450! Yes, you must be insane, but where would we be without you?!
