One nephew, by the grace of God, is Christian and conservative. Two weeks ago he married a girl who holds the same faith and values! Thanksgiving is my favorite time. We share it with a Large Vietnamese family. My wife sponsored 8 Viet kids in the 80s. The rest of the family arrived later, 3 separate escapes. They are proud Americans, and so thankful that they increase my gratitude. The Lord's prayer, sung in Vietnamese is beautiful.

I used to teach my nephews to drive a pickup when they were way to young. We would go out in the pasture and get lessons. That old farm truck was a 67 Chevy with the 3 on the column. That was in the 80s. We would also take the john boat and gigs and collect a mess of bull frogs late at night for a frog leg fry the next day. Another time I took them into the Texas Hill country and showed them Indian caves and cave art and told them all sorts of stories about the settlers and Indians and how Texas was settled. Make time to make the memories. One day you will be old and that is too late. The extended family will all gather at my oldest nephew's place this year. We will break out the instruments around a nice fire in the evening, sing, and have a grand time. God bless all the Patriots. Stay safe out there.

My “mutually adopted” grandkids spend a lot of time with me. I am white and they are latino…. Both are first generation Americans. Grandson is 17 and granddaughter is 15. Buddy, were listening to my wife's and my conversation last night? We have a niece that made a 180⁰ turn from conservative to full blown liberal when she attended college. This girl shocked everyone, and now she has views and lives a life that most of our family cannot grasp. I love her like my own daughter, but I cannot support her lifestyle, choices, or beliefs. That makes a relationship tough.

I'm conservative and so is my spouse - our kids and their spouses are liberals. We all get along just fine because we leave politics "at the door" when we're together. We understand that each person is allowed to have their own opinions (even if the liberals are wrong. 😂) it's just not worth tearing a family apart over. I would much rather have a relationship with my kids and grandkids than to fight over politics. I will do my fighting when I vote on election day.

I have the liberal leaning highschool nieces (parents keep them in public school sadly)… It is very hard to love all of them who don’t love me back. Only by God’s amazing strength, peace, & love He gives me, am I able to continue loving others & never stop praying they’ll know God. Just got through early Thanksgiving & used a similar technique. I booked an air bnb on a lake near by their home - we played outside all day & made great memories I pray they’ll look back & smile. Worth every hard earned penny.

Growing up my dads brother was a grouch and didn’t like kids. I was terrified of him! But my moms brother came and got me at age 3 and took me to the skating rink. He put me on his shoulders while he skated. He’d put me in his lap and let me drive. My grandma got me a go cart and my uncle kept it going every time I was too rough on it. I kept slinging the chain off drifting. 😂

My side is entirely messed up! I thank God my mom remarried, to a military man, & we left her family. Allllll of them have screwed up lives. They are their own gods or involved in the occult. My husband’s side lives in MI & they, most of them anyway, have fallen away from God. It’s sad. My husband of 42 yrs & I live in OK with our kids & grandkids all here too.
