Discworld has an adventurer who is in his 80's. His dentures are made of diamond teeth he knocked out of an ancient troll's mouth, and gold soft tissue taken from some druid's circlets (they were evil druids). He's got a smile that can literally brighten the room, and its one of the most terrifying sights on the disc.

Imagine waking up somewhere on the edge of a giant black pit wrapping around the horizon. The sky is just many blurred colors shifting around & shining inconsistently, as well as blotting out at regular intervals in a slit shape, as if a huge mouth has attempted to swallow this world whole, but only gotten it stuck. Not wishing to be any closer to this massive spot of oblivion, you ascend to see a vibrant orange brown beach. As you step on it, what you thought was sand squishes down oddly, & feels thicker & slimier than normal sand. Hell, even what you thought was "air" feels weirdly fluid around you, & you really can't accept this being a real, tangible place unless you've somehow reached some alien planet, nor can you trust you've not unknowingly died & been consigned to some sort of torturous afterlife of whatever this is. It looks like a vast desert with large, strange formations in its ground. You don't like the idea of crossing a desert with no visible end, but it feels like your only chance, so you venture forth. What hurts like an eternity of walking has passed, & you catch sight of something horrible. A white wasteland beyond what you've already traveled stretches forever from your vantage of the raised orange ring. You try to scream, but your lungs feel full of some kind of sludge that won't come out, nor will it impede you inhaling. It dawns upon you, this atmosphere is liquid, you're inside some kind of bubble around a grand orb. You now understand what the world beneath you truly is, & with your own pair, you begin to weep.
