In the books he definitely wouldn’t ,in fact Major book Spoiler alert!!! He doesn’t support Danny in the books but the supposed son of prince rhaegar who the mountain killed during the sack of kings landing called Aegon who he swapped out for another baby and raised in Penrose with Illyria. However it is thought that this a lie and that aegon is actually a descendant of house blackfyre which is a bastard branch of house Targaryen that have tried to take the throne from Targaryen’s with five rebellions. Varys is even thought by some to be part of this house which is why he shaves his head as to not reveal his silver hair! It’s much more interesting and realistic for his character !!!

Yeah, right? I don't understand that either. I come back here every now and then to rewatch this awesome tribute and I'm always wondering about the small amount of views. You should check out TheGaroStudios' tribute for Lord Beric Dondarrion too. The character might not be as complex as Varys' and had way less screen time, but I think the music and scenes used in that tribute fits nearly as good as they do here. :)

This video is a perfect encapsulation of the character. Varys is one of the best characters in the show much to the credit of the writers and amazing performance of Conleth Hill. Varys is one of only a few characters in the show who genuinely care for making The Seven Kingdoms a better place. I believe audiences connect with him for that reason and we root for him to succeed. Unfortunately his character didn't receive the death he deserved but he will remain as one of the best parts of the show.

After the 30th or so listen I wanted to give you some feedback; I think you couldve named the "magic" varys is so afraid of a bit more (from his standpoint) and give him more concrete reasoning, even if it may just be traumas he´s still trying to figure out. I´m sure he´s got more explaining inklings on the reasons for his tragedies and resulting realizations that can lead him more effortlessly. Still a great video ive listened to and watched many times already and most probably will in the future, it gives me some traits I value very high and want to keep following :) thank you.

if youre without scrupels you would use any "instrument" that holds power, since it would only have power if it was able to be used usefully. ...thats my take on it. He obviously grants magic great respect. So he´s either shocked, the marks that were left are dwindling and he´s finding out that magic has only very little power ... or he´s finding a great power to befriend with, which would take effort after the traumas. I guessed the latter and wished to see more of that journey, but maybe i´m expecting too much from the series or I´m even interpreting wrongly/weakly. Still many interesting problems you dealt with :)
