Got my call sign THIS MORNING from the FCC and now this appears in my feed! Coincidence? I THINK NOT. 73's from the new KQ4RFP! Looking forward to watching it later.

Just passed the Technician and General both 4/15. Crammed for the Technician for 3 days, then the General for 4 days. Long week, but it was worth it. One testing fee. The last time that I took communications was in college back in '84. Had to knock off 40 years of rust. Greetings from KJ5FWC 73's

I worked a Tech on 15 meter CW last week. Didn’t even know they had privileges there TBH. Turns out he was 13 years old according to his QRZ page. Sounded great, sent him a QSL card. Very impressive.

Josh. I was a Ham radio operator about 50 years ago (I'm 66 years young) and I am fighting Cancer. I am using your playlist on KZbin and Ham study to get my Technician License, I WANT MORE. Can you please put-up a new playlist for the General Class License as I have set the following goals: Technician class by the end of June 2024, and General Class by the end if September 2024. Thank you and 73's

This right here. I just passed my Technician exam and received my call sign. I may go for my General but it does seem like the support system drastically drops after Tech and frankly it's needed much more for General. Thanks for all you do Josh!
@daveg50887 ай бұрын
If your goal is really just the license exam, the Ham Study app is a great aid. I won't pretend that it actually helps you learn the ins and outs as much as actually having someone teach you via videos or hands on, but it can get you past the licensing.
@webanon7 ай бұрын
You're right. When I was studying for technician, I remember being confused about all the license types. I now know part of my confusion can be attributed to available FCC license types over time... Hope you enjoyed the nerd conference!

I punched my ticket back in August 23. I'm preparing to upgrade to at least general class soon. I've already worked VK, ZL, and JA all on FT8 10m with a hamstick mounted off the hitch of my car. Looking to get myself a handheld that can do APRS this week. Thanks for these videos. Update: got my general in June of 24, and now have an HT that does APRS beaconing.

Hi Josh, I appreciate the technician videos. Just got my call sign. Are there any plans to do a series on the General Class license formated like the Technician? Those videos helped me so much. Thank you again sir. KJ5FTL

I am fixing to take the test for the Technician's License this Thursday. I have been looking at a lot of KZbin videos, including your videos on the question pool for the 10 Elements. What do you think of tge library on Periscope Films KZbin channel? Lots of War Department training videos on radio propagation and radio tech training.

I’ve got a question for ya, I have a Yaesu ftm-500 and I am new to ham radio. I have been listening to the repeater in Utah getting ready for my test. I’m alittle confused because I am listening to repeaters in Arizona that are 350 miles away … I didn’t know this was possible. Could you explain why?
@HamRadioCrashCourse6 ай бұрын
The repeaters are using the internet to bridge their locations.
@Dmatic8917 күн бұрын
where do you go get a license or take a class in SoCal....
@seandrake75343 ай бұрын
Your so lucky to have such a active area there are 16 repertors within a 10 miles radius of where i work (yeah i travel 62 miles one way to work) and not one person has answered my call in 3 months since i got my license. i try make contacts on my way to work ,during my lunch break and on the way home. And i never get anyone's to answer any suggestions on how else to get people to talk to us new guys
@semsemsalabim10 күн бұрын
This may be a silly question, but did you set the correct repeater offset and or any transmit tone needed to access the repeater?
@seandrake75349 күн бұрын
@semsemsalabim yes sir I can get the repertors to talk to me when I key up lol

I went from Technician to General to Extra in the span of 3 months, and huge thank you to Anoka County and HRCC for helping me get there! Sadly, 146.520/580 is kind of quiet in Minnesota. I’ll put out my call sign just to see if anyone is listening. Hope to get on the 10m band soon and start hunting activators on POTA!❤ - KF0QNM

If you do not know, what a band plan is, or a repeater, or *OTA, or..., in Europa you would not get ANY ham license. Which astounds me, because the US are a CEPT country, too.
@HamRadioCrashCourse7 ай бұрын
I think you're trying to imply new hams don't know bands of operation which astounds me.
