Came here after Oxygen's routine to this song on World of Dance, with Jennifer Lopez as one of the judges. Derek reacted immediately when this song first started playing but J Lo didn't give any indication that the song was particularly relevant to her. Caríssima, além de não bailar tango você também não conhece. Pois isso não é tango nem qualquer outra dança, apenas coriografia ou quem sabe uma preliminar para o coito com muito movimento. Sou brasileiro e já estive na nossa querida Buenos Aires e dancei um tango numa casa classica, salvo engano é café ideal, foi em 2008, mas em breve vou repetir a dose, mas quero dançar muuuuito mais. This movie is a sparkling jewel hidden among romantic comedies and I honestly don't know why it doesn't have more recognition. Theres no sex theres no overt vulgarity theres no affairs it's just dancing. To portray more passion and sensuality in three minutes than most films in their entirety is a powerfully beautiful thing. Richard Gere and Jlo maybe up in their years but man oh man is this scene a testament to their acting ❤

Patricia A Rodríguez esteeee... yo tampoco comparé a Richard Gere con Al Pacino... dije que el tango bailado por Gere es el que acá le llamamos "tango for export" porque es un tango "decorado" con pasos que no son específicos del tango sino más bien coreografeados para "Hollywood", y que el verdadero tango es el de salón, digamos, es más como se muestra en la película de Al Pacino... yo no bailo tango, pero mi abuela paterna sí bailaba tango de salón con cortes y quebradas... como todo buen tango... Y me encanta cantar tangos. No es un enjuiciamiento, fue algo gracioso en realidad que creí que eras argentina y como nos suele pasar a los argentinos que nos metemos a curiosear en publicaciones en otros idiomas tendemos a escribirnos luego entre nosotros en inglés por ejemplo, ya me ha pasado antes de encontrarme gente de mi país en chats ingleses y que se diera ese tipo de conversación, y terminemos diciendo "ah bolú, y por qué seguimos hablando en inglés?" jajajaja Ahora quizás entiendas que fue un chiste digamos de mi país, y que no lo captaste porque no eres de aquí, pero no era nada ofensivo ni nada por el estilo... sino más bien riéndonos de nosotros mismos, de cosas típicas nuestras... Te traduzco lo que pusiste, porque aunque seas bilingüe creo que pensás que no entendí pero literalmente dice: "Quizás no es la mejor interpretación de tango (acá en Argentina solemos usar también "performance" pero pronunciado en francés), ni tampoco le hace honor al baile del tango en sí mismo, pero bastante bueno.Quizás gracias a los bailarines. Un gran trabajo. Ellos merecen un aplauso:" Como ves, sí comprendí cada palabra y podría decir que también soy bilingüe, de hecho he trabajado haciendo varias traducciones, tanto de forma oral como por escrito a lo largo de mi vida. Según vos yo estoy traduciendo mal lo que pusiste... dándole un sentido contrario a tus palabras, sin embargo presiento que estás malinterpretando el uso correcto de ciertas palabras como "neither"... Sé perfectamente la dinámica de los idiomas porque no sólo lo he estudiado sino como te dije tengo amigos originarios de países angloparlantes. I' m tired off people modifying our music, or saying that is tango, just because they doesn't even know what tango is, like in a lot of american movies. Just because it says Argentina, or because it have a bandoneon, doesn't make it tango, and if it were, definitely that's not how you dance tango, is a choreography with some tango moves, but certainly this is not tango. The tango is a mix out different cultures , a meating between two soules.De Argentijnse tango is ontstaan uit ontmoetingen tussen mensen met verschillende culturele achtergronden die rond 1900 in grote getale vanuit o.a. Europa naar Argentinië emigreerden, in de hoop daar een beter leven op te kunnen bouwen.Argentinië stimuleerde deze emigratie in de hoop het platteland van barbarij - lees indianen - te ontdoen en subsidieerde soms zelfs de overtocht van Europeanen, in de hoop Europese beschaving en kennis binnen te halen en het land te bevolken. Een groot deel van de Europese bevolking, met name arbeiders, leefde echter in barre omstandigheden op dat moment dankzij de industriële revolutie. Om die reden waren het dan ook voornamelijk ongeschoolde arbeiders die de overstap maakten, familie en vaderland achterlatend. Op het hoogte punt van deze massale immigratie kwamen er jaarlijks rond de 64.000 immigranten aan in de Río de la Plata.De beloofde rijkdom bleek niet altijd direct binnen handbereik; Buenos Aires werd overspoeld met immigranten, er was onvoldoende huisvesting en vaak geen werk. De nieuwkomers werden ondergebracht in conventillos (huurkazernes), waar ze over het algemeen dicht op elkaar gepakt in armoedige in omstandigheden moesten zien te overleven. Zonder geld om een terugkeer naar het vaderland te bekostigen maar met heimwee naar familie, vrienden, vaderland, taal en eigen cultuur.Tango muziek is dan ook ontstaan uit een smeltkroes van Europese, Afrikaanse en Creoolse (in het koloniale tijdperk werd hiermee iedereen bedoeld die van Spaanse afkomst was, tegenwoordig betekent creools inheems) ritmes. De eerste bezetting van tango was simpel, vaak niet meer dan een gitaar en een fluit, pas na de komst van de bandoneon heeft de tango zijn specifieke, weemoedige en tevens opzwepende klank gekregen.En waar muziek is, wordt gedanst. De theorieën hierover lopen nogal uiteen, een feit is dat er vooral mannen naar Argentinië emigreerden, en dat er voor deze mannen weer prostituees o.a. uit Parijs naar Buenos Aires kwamen, en dat de eerste Tango’s werden gedanst in bordelen. In afwachting van een prostituee dansten mannen met elkaar, of om haar te verleiden, de klant met een hoertje. Hoe dan ook, tango heeft een tijd de naam van een vulgaire dans te zijn gehad die zich af speelde tussen mensen en op duistere plekken waar je beter niet gezien kon worden.Pas nadat o.a. Garlos Gardel en Rodolfo Valentino de Tango onder de beau monde in Parijs onder de aandacht brachten en Parijs zó onder de indruk raakte van deze hippe, sensuele dans dat er zelfs een modekleur, oranje, naar de tango vernoemd werd, kwam ook de betere klasse in Argentinië in de ban van deze dans.De gouden tijd van de tango in Buenos Aires met geweldige orkesten en overvolle dansgelegenheden is in de 40-er jaren van de vorige eeuw, daarna hebben zowel de pop-muziek, als militaire regimes in Argentinië waarbij samenscholing verboden werd, de tango een tijdje stilgelegd.Maar sinds 20 jaar is er weer een geweldige opbloei en beperkt tango zich niet meer tot wereldsteden als Parijs en Buenos Aires, maar stromen er dagelijks grote groepen mensen, over de hele wereld verspreidt, samen om te dansen. Taal, cultuur, leeftijd, lengte spelen hierbij geen rol.De ontmoeting is het magische van twee zielen die dezelfde taal spreken; de taal van tango.
