I have the Enya Feather in the natural color, and I absolutely adore it! I got it about 2 1/2 weeks ago and have found it difficult to put down. Haven't touched any of my other ukuleles since then. The tone is lovely, and it's just really really nice to look at while playing it. This one is, by far, my favorite.

That's a beauty! I started playing on the Enya EUT-MAD in that same blue, and still love it. Older model and not as loud, but it's absolutely ethereal sounding and one of the most stunning ukes I've ever seen. It's a joy to see how the line is evolving with higher end models. The volume on that feather is impressive. My one concern is how I would ever humidify that model during the dry winter conditions here.
@GotAUkulele3 жыл бұрын
Shouldn't be too difficult - the tube type humidifiers that sit inside the case (but not in the uke) would work

Great review and I've been waiting for this one from the pictures you've been teasing. It sure is a head turner. I wonder how this one compares in sound to the E6 made of maple? Right, I left a comment and deleted it as something made me go back and look again . I love the way this sounds but I'm not keen on the sound hole or the inlays, but that is personal preference and matters not a whit! Here's my question ; has that got a radius fretboard? it perhaps looks like it ?? I dont know why Ukes dont go down this road ... Most players aren't doing tone bends and with other instruments such as guitars and mandolins they are standard to varying degrees and give a much better feel and grip when fingering chords . This is where my ignorance shows.. Why not make a 16", 12" or heaven forbid a 7" radius Uke fingerboard. Please excuse the 'Off topic' comment . Cheers Baz for another great review
@GotAUkulele3 жыл бұрын
It's extremely slight.
@sup_4133 жыл бұрын
This was already on my wishlist, and you've confirmed all I've hoped for it to be. I'll be saving up. In the meantime, a satin finish to the fingerboard would be delightful. Now that I've got the Diana concert Soundwave, I would enjoy a bit more punch from the on board effects on this one, too, to justify a second transacoustic for my small collection. I can see your enjoyment of this instrument, and that means a lot!

Great review! Thanks Baz. I am still searching for a decent baritone uke with a Soundwave system ( or similar like the Enya). I know Flight do a Soundwave baritone uke, but a certain excellent ukulele store has told me they won't stock them as they are not up to standard - not the Soundwave but the uke itself. Maybe I'll end up asking a local luthier to install a standalone system into a baritone uke of my choice.

The reflection of your yellow light onto the blue really makes it look like a Navi from Avatar. Ok, bizarre question. If you were to block the sound hole would it become silent? I ask because i do silent practice on an electric snail but the neck is too narrow. I bought a sound hole cover for my acoustic ukulele hoping it would make it silent, but it really doesn't
@GotAUkulele Жыл бұрын
I use a daylight setting on the lights. No, it wouldn't become silent, but there is a lot of mythology about sound holes - they are not actually there to make sound - the sound comes from the vibrating top. The holes allow air to transfer in and out to allow the top to vibrate more freely. So if you block it you still get the top vibration, just not as much.

I do get asked this sort of question a lot, but actually have a policy of not giving recommendations or determining a 'best' uke. Not me trying to be difficult, it’s just that it’s really subjective and different for everyone - we all hear and play differently, but also people have their own preferences on looks, scales, features, decoration etc. What I can advise is that you look at the full review list - www.gotaukulele.com/p/ukulele-reviews.html and look at the scores. Anything 8 out of 10 or above gets a recommendation from me one way or the other. Higher the score the better. BUT - higher is better only in MY opinion - you may find differently! Hope that helps

I am no fan of Apple business models or "designer" stuff in general, but if you say it like that it really doesn't mean anything. As far as aesthetic, I'd certainly rather see the Lava U or Feather Tenor than a dime-a-dozen mini guitar. See how I sound?
