The 1st song you reacted is from Wacken Open Air (Germany) in 2013, together with Floor Jansen, the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [The 1st Bassist of the band was Sami Vanska, he was with them until 2001. The 2nd one was Marco Hietala, as Bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. Then very recently (May 2021) Jukka Koskinen became the 3nd Bassist of the band, for at least the Human :II: Nature tour] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). No copyright problems with Nightwish live songs. You can also play their live songs completely without interruption. This band is very close to their fans. Almost part of the family Floor is the best singer in the world. Technically absolutely high level. She can sing anything. From the highest tones to growling. From metal to pop. What she sings live, the so-called world stars just manage in the studio. Her absolute only problem is that she doesn't have the notoriety she deserves and that she has really earned. She is one of the most down to earth and lovable people on this planet. She also delights her fans every week on her own youtube channel (Floor Jansen).

@@GOTGames There is one exception that _might_ cause a copyright issue, and that's "Poet and the Pendulum". Apparently, some rapper uses the same poem as the basis for one of his songs, and because of that similarity, some reactions to Nightwish's "Poet" got blocked in the past... It absolutely is a song you do need to listen to, but not right away anyways since it requires a good bit of background to fully understand.

Great reaction. Bro that is exactly how I reacted the first time I saw NW. I instantly fell in love with Floor and just got so hyped up watching the band just going nuts and just how tight they play. I remember telling myself when Floor started singing that this shouldn’t work, but it just fit so well that I couldn’t wait to hear another song. I spent the next 2 hours listening to half this concert and they instantly became my favorite band. You my friend are in for one hell of a journey. Enjoy the greatest band on the planet. Floor Jansen is a vocal athlete with incredible range, versatility, vocal stamina, and stage presence. She is a spinto soprano with a range of around four octaves +. When listening to Floor sing, it is apparent that she has spent the better part of her life fine-tuning her instrument with help from several vocal coaches. Floor can sing in multiple languages and genres, and is a Master vocal coach. She often refers to herself as a vocal nerd. It is incredible how she is able to take any song from any genre and make it her own. This woman is a true gift to her craft and an incredible addition to a band that has always been great until 2013 when they officially hired the undisputed Queen of Metal, Floor Jansen, making Nightwish the greatest band on the planet. I LOVE watching people's first reaction to Nightwish because I did the exact same thing that you did. First time I heard them was this song and I just sat there with my jaw dropped the entire song, then went nuts after it finished. They are now my #1 band. @@GOTGames Floor Jansen was in a band called After Forever from the time she was sixteen years old. They eventually broke up (very sad, they were good on stage) and she eventually formed a new band, Revamp. She broke that band up when she joined Nightwish because she would not be able to focus on both bands with any sort of stability (or maybe she thought the quality of the music would be unsustainable; either way, sad, but a smart move). She has AT LEAST two songs she growls in for Revamp and they are Disdain (doesn't matter which version you pick to watch, you can clearly hear her growls because she is the only vocalist doing anything while she is growling) and Wildcard. For Nightwish, there is a song that she growls in called Yours Is An Empty Hope (in some versions, it's really difficult to make out that SHE is growling and not the band's bassist Marko. In other versions, it is 'easier' to hear it). Check them all out, they are all FIRE! Good luck, have fun! :)

welcome (back) to the fantastic symphonic metal universe of Nightwish Band, their live performances are some of the things that come so close to epic that they get to be mythical and of course Floor Jansen, queen of the stage and goddess of music, she can sing anything in any musical style she wants (WARNING! her voice, her stage presence, her charisma, in one word: her "spell" is highly addictive). this concert (wacken 2013) is incredibly epic and deserves to be watched and reacted entirely, song by song, in particular I suggest these three songs: "song of myself", "storytime" and "ever dream" this performance of "ghost love score" is one of the three best performances of the nightwish band, together with "the poet and the pendulum" from 2015 concert at the london wembley arena and "the greatest show on earth" from 2015 concert in tampere - finland (actually there is a fourth best performance: "dead boy's poem" from the 2018 concert in buenos aires).

This is the song that got me watching music reacts. If there was ever a song you wish you could hear for the first time again. I've seen them in concert several times. One of the best. If you want more like this, I recommend Epica, another band with a trained opera singer. Their live performance of Consign to Oblivion is divine.

Welcome to Nightwish, you have just had what we call a “Floorgasm” her name is Floor Jenson (yawnsen) she is the 3rd vocalist for the group. The keyboardist Tuomas is the leader and main composer for the group. Their songs are best viewed live. marko the bassist is also very very accomplished singer, he just won finlands masked singer. But he has recently left the band for health and family. I’m sure Gabriel will show up here and give you a list of songs and backgrounds so you will get a feel for this group. Floor was classically trained soprano, but she does do dirty deep growling. She can do it all.

Dude, I had the exact same reaction on my face the first time I saw this. The teary eyes, the goosebumps, the excitement, the emotion......it's all so relatable!! Then their Dutch singer (Floor) appeared on this Dutch TV-programme called "Beste Zangers" (where singers pay tribute to eachother's songs). She KILLED it on every song, with her duet of The Phantom of the Opera with the real Dutch Phantom as an absolute highlight! Look it op "Floor Jansen & Henk Poort", you will NOT be disappointed!!!

I got up on the wrong side of life this morning - then I saw this reaction. When I find a new reactor for Nightwish, I start at the beginning of their journey and, if I like them, I binge-watch until I'm caught up. Who are Nightwish? Well, only the best band currently playing in the world. Gabriel will guide you on the journey if you choose. Just wait until you hear the bass player sing! Every member a master - and you haven't seen them all in this song. Had to laugh - when Floor started singing you had the standard First-time-Nightwish expression. Mouth open, awestruck expression. Classic. You have heard 15 to 20% ofcwhat Nightwish can do, and about the same percentage if what Floor can do (anything from true opera to growling to pop and everything in between). Info dump for you below!😁 Nightwish is a glorious rabbit hole of awesome, with world class song-writing, musicianship and arguably (or unarguably to most who've heard her enough😉) the best and most versatile female vocalist alive today (maybe ever), the Valkyrie Queen of metal herself Floor Jansen (pronounced Yansen). Floor is a classically trained soprano and has a vocal range of more than 3 octaves (D3 to F6+). Floor is the third female vocalist that Nightwish have had (and my personal favourite), she was only with them on tour for 10 months at this point and officially joined the band in 2013, she is still with them today. The other vocalists are - Tarja Turunen - (1996-2005) - (Finland) - Very operatic focused vocals. Anette Olzon - (2007-2012) - (Sweden) - More pop-centric vocals. Floor Jansen - (2012-Present) - (Netherlands) - Extremely diverse vocals, from deep growls to full on opera. The other band members are/were - Tuomas Holopainen - Song writer/composer and Keyboards. (Finland) Marko Hietala - Bassist and vocals. (Finland) Emppu Vuorinen - Guitarist (Finland) Jukka Nevalainen - Drums (Finland) Retired in 2014 due to health issues Troy Donockley - Multi-instrumentalist and Vocals. (United Kingdom) Kai Hahto - Drums (Finland) - 2014 to Present Floor herself is Dutch and is another glorious goldmine of awesome as she has a lot of non-Nightwish related stuff (including 2 other bands, After Forever & ReVamp) that she has done that is all pretty amazing as well. She is also an absolutely lovely, funny, smart and grounded person (in fact all the band members are exceedingly down to earth individuals). She has her own channel here on KZbin where she regularly posts covers of songs. The band was formed in 1996 by lead songwriter/composer and keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen. The name of the genre they generally belong to is Symphonic Metal but their discography is EXTREMELY varied. The "Symphonic" backing tracks of their music is composed in the majority by Tuomas and performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra. This was the 13th song in this particular set, Floor is belting notes like that the entire set. Nighwish are almost always better experienced with live versions of their songs if at all possible. Most new reactors are better off sticking with the Wacken 2013 set to begin with as it offers a taste of a lot of what Nightwish has to offer, they have multiple concerts though all of which are superb. Some suggestions for more songs for you to continue your journey would be Romanticide, Storytime, Ever Dream, Ghost River, I Wish I had an Angel, Song of Myself, Dark Chest of Wonders, I Want My Tears Back and Amaranth all from Wacken 2013 (pronounced Vacken). Saying that, anything from Wacken 2013 is golden really to start, there's a reason why that set is pretty legendary at this point, 82,000 people were in attendance. Beware of some messed up slowed down versions of the Wacken 2013 songs as they can take the energy right out of the performances, just check the comments on them and I'm sure someone will mention if it's a slowed down version. Your choice obviously but I'd avoid Poet and the Pendulum and The Greatest Show on Earth for now until you are more familiar with the band and it's history, they will make a lot more sense and be more enjoyable for you that way. Prepare for the Nightwish army to arrive and enjoy your Nightwish journey, I know I did!😎🤘

What a terrific first-time reaction to this glorious band and to the Nightwish Army's Valkyrie Queen, the lovely and talented Floor Jansen. Nightwish kills their live performances. Every song at this Wacken 2013 concert is amazing. Some of the harder ones are Romanticide and Weak Fantasy. I also recommend you hear Floor doing the deep growling in every chorus of "Yours is an Empty Hope" live at Wembley 2015. To watch Floor drive an audience into an insane FRENZY, watch "I Want my Tears Back" live at Buenos Aires 2019. Enjoy your journey down the Nightwish rabbit hole.

Ah, Nightwish! I believe I started to listen to them when I was some 11 years old (and now I'm 30 and feeling old). The band was formed in Finland, and still many of the members are from here, some have never changed since they started in 1996. Their vocalist has changed three times, and I must say Floor (she's the singer now) is one hell of a powerful person. I recommend Storytime live, I believe one is from Wacken as well, that's one of my favorites from them!

And you're right, they really come at you like a truck - a year ago I'd never heard of Nightwish, now they're my top played artist EVER on Spotify, I have (my first EVER) tickets booked for a concert - to see Nightwish of course - and I just got my first ever tattoo...also Nightwish (Human Nature).
