Fun fact: MGR turned 10 years old yesterday. This song is one of my favorites and it’s about a guy called monsoon (warm and soothing rain) who discusses the nature of memes. I sincerely hope that one day you do a playthrough series of this game. It's only like a 7 hour-ish long game so not super long but every single moment in it is just badass over the top awesomeness that this OST fits to like a glove. I love DMC to death but there's just something about the over the top absurdity in Metal Gear Rising Rev that makes me remember it more. Definitely a must play, sure some of the Metal Gear lore and characters might go over your head but it doesn't require knowledge of the series to really enjoy it.

Ik I'm late but few things: 1.) The character in the official art is Raiden, the main protagonist. He's basically a cyborg ninja lol. The thing he is holding isn't a cable, it's electrolyte paste; basically it's the blood of cyborgs like him, and Raiden literally rips out from his enemies and crushes it so it spatters on his body. This enriches him and how he can continue in battle for extended periods of time. 2.) The songs in Metal Gear Rising: Eevengeance (MGR:R) are character driven, they tell, allude, and vrant context on the character they sing about. For example, this song, "Stains Of Time," is about Monsoon, a major antagonist. The whole song details his philosophy of nihilism, his misanthropy, and his idea of memes. He's a survivor of the Cambodian genocide and it's implied he saw the worst of it. 3.) The OST producer, Jamie Christopherson, had no experience with this genre of music before MGR:R. 4.) My personal favorite is "A Stranger I Remain," which details another antagonist and how she was lost and without purpose before the events of this game. "Because I am a stranger who has found an even stranger war!"

The ost for the game is so insane because the game itself is batshit crazy In the best way possible. Example for this song: This music plays during monsoon's fight a boss who: Jumps off a building. Monologs about memes. Magnetically disconnects parts of his body to dodge your sword slashes. Throws tanks, helicopters, Giant burning balls of metal and small Washington monuments at the player and THEN you kill him by slashing him into a million tiny bits. Then Raiden (the player character): "Your memes end here monsoon."

MGR, of course will have a heavy load of music, not because there are many, but because the few of them worth a lot. But sadly the original versions are way smaller, that, and the other ones you hear are like 2 or 3 min songs but copy and paste like 2 or 3 times to make it bigger, not that that is bad, since most of us just repeat the same track over and over again, but a long song would be nice. Also, they will talk about memes, but please refer to the original terminology of memes from 1976 book the selfish gene where meme refers to how customs and knowledge pass over next generations since it cannot pass like dna. I think "Collective Consciousness" would be cool if you haven't hear it, and is better if you hear "It has to be this way" just after finish it. But changing games, you must hear the Guilty Gear OST, check Big Blast Sonic.
