I would say from Mob's explosions so far that the 100% murderous intent one(which he almost went into in epsiode 11 of season 1 if it weren't reigen's intervention) is probably the scariest besides ???%.
@BekindBekbek6 күн бұрын
Obsession was pretty scary too. Like Mob beating shit out of people with "Who said you can pass out" gives chills. But for me scariest explosion is in next episode, even if it wasn`t marked as one in anime, as many others.

Can we just appreciate how Reigen actually pulled the trigger? I loved it. It never fails in to impress me how massive Reigen's balls actually are. Reigen took one look at what the claw boss did to Mob and proceeded to shoot him with a gun without even blinking. He didn't hesitate, he didn't flinch, he didn't bluster. He pulled the trigger and shot to kill.

Actually, the scene of Mob growing the tomatoes was a foreshadowing for him having the same power as Suzuki of giving energy to others, since he gave his energy to the plant to make it grow.

I guess you could say that the emotion Mob was feeling when fighting Serizawa was pretty much "empathy"

That's one way to put it. Friendship, camaraderie, belonging, is also all emotions. Literally anything you can feel/sense in a human way is an emotion.

@kamuyking5516 күн бұрын
aaaaaa I've missed like two of these, but I gotta be here for our guy Serizawa!!! I love him!!! and yeah, excellent call saying that Serizawa is kind of like Mob... I think a lot of the characters who hold power in this show are like what Mob could've been under different circumstances, especially this season. Mogami is like if Mob didn't have his support network, and let the cruelty of the world breed resentment in his heart. Serizawa is like if Mob let his fear of himself and his abilities win, and never learned how to properly engage with other people. and the boss here, Toichiro Suzuki, is like if Mob let his ego win, and used his power to subjugate people with force. I think the funny thing is... Serizawa and Suzuki have pretty much the same problem. they can't engage with other people. and while Serizawa looks more outwardly pathetic because he carries the appearance of a socially isolated shut-in, Suzuki is just as pathetic when you get right down to it. it's the very same problem that the scars had in season 1. engaging with others is difficult, and some people just give up on trying to cultivate the skill of doing it well. at least when Serizawa struggled, and couldn't overcome the obstacle, he hid himself away out of genuine concern for others. by contrast, Suzuki decided that his deficit of social skills meant that nothing of value was there to begin with, and he decided to make that the entire world's problem. he doesn't understand the world, or anyone in it, and his solution is to reforge it as something more easily digestible for himself. it's immature. and it is then really interesting to see Suzuki's relationship to Serizawa placed in direct contrast with Reigen's relationship to Mob. "I'll show you how to use your powers" was an opportunistic thing said by Suzuki to Serizawa, and by Reigen to Mob as well... but the difference is the opportunity that these two men saw. via their actions, you can tell exactly what they think the most worthy use of power truly is. and it's also interesting to consider the kind of advice they give. Reigen frequently comes off as rude in instances where he bluntly points out people's flaws and insecurities, but rarely is he doing that to be mean. he gets to act like he knows better because he won't entertain bullshit... and while that may lead to him putting his foot in his mouth, getting in over his head, or offending someone from time to time... he isn't afraid to really get into the weeds of social interaction. after Mob first encountered the LOL cult, he went back to Reigen, troubled over his inability to fit in socially. and Reigen doesn't mince words... he acknowledges that Mob really can't read a room. but he also says that this quality isn't all negative. he was able to free everyone from brainwashing _because_ he doesn't follow along so easily, and that can be important, and save people. in every moment, Reigen encourages people to accept their own rough edges, and engage with their own flaws fully. meanwhile, Suzuki gives Serizawa the equivalent of a security blanket. the umbrella he carries with him everywhere is meant to emulate the feeling of being in his room. it's basically permission not to fix any of his flaws. looking at Serizawa's main issue... it's a feedback loop. being around other people is unpredictable, and he'll often get nervous or irritated, which triggers his powers. this raises the stakes for those emotions. it makes him nervous about the possibility of feeling nervous, because he might hurt someone. but the only reason his powers spike, is because he's putting so much pressure on himself. he doesn't know how to deal with these emotions, because he has no practice. every time, he's only ever shied away... he has no resilience built up. and while "taking his room with him" in the form of this umbrella might be a fine starting point, he still isn't fixing his isolation. in this episode, we can see that he's very oblivious to what's going on around him. he doesn't know that they kidnapped the Prime Minister... he didn't even know what he looked like. and he's sticking his head in the sand about the morality of what their group is doing. he won't question it, because Serizawa mainly gets his confidence from Suzuki's validation. he sees Suzuki's overwhelming power as something stable, so he clings to the certainty of it. if it'll get Suzuki to tell him he's doing a good job, he'll do just about anything. and since he's only motivated by external pressures/incentives, Serizawa is never fully in control of his circumstances. he doesn't have the confidence to assert himself. genuinely, I adore Serizawa, because he really is just a very fragile person. he's misguided, and he'll benefit from becoming stronger, but even from the very beginning... isolation is what people choose when they don't want to bother others. Serizawa cedes the world to others, convinced that they probably know what they're doing, and he definitely doesn't. it is, at the root, a very humble mindset. it's just taken way too far, and it causes him to suffer. I think Mob makes a correct assessment about Serizawa by the end of their encounter... Serizawa just needs friends to help teach him how to be a part of the world. and yeah... "friendship" isn't really an emotion, but I'd say maybe the emotion here is a bit difficult to convey in that sense. self identification? compassion? reconciliation? empathy? something to encompass all of these.

I love how Mob's explosions always happen after a build-up to 100%, but when Reigen seemingly got hurt in front of him, Mob jumped straight into 100% Rage right away I'm pretty sure the only other time that happened is back when he saw his parents' "corpses" and went ???%
@kamuyking5516 күн бұрын
also, speaking of finales that just end in talking... it actually kind of reminds me of Vinland Saga season 2, where the finale is basically just a really good conversation between Thorfinn and Canute.

21:00 umm Gon was never remotely "hesitant to fight". Gon is full-on battle junkie who gets thrills from fighting. He isn't actively malicious but his morality is clearly pretty grey and gets more so as the show goes on. MOB is clearly the more emotionally sensitive character
@plugshirt17626 күн бұрын
Yeah Gon and Mob are not remotely similar. To be fair most people seem to not realize Gon is not just your generic anime protagonist but is incredibly selfish loves to fight

Mob at 100% Rage: Sometimes you need to be hurt to truly understand. Well that is not scary at all. I also love to parallel between: Mob found Reigen Toichiro found Serizawa Both had "Masters" yet the result is so different.
@rafaelbrisolara75996 күн бұрын
Yeah, I think that a better name for that explosion would be compassion or empathy than friendship 😆
@JeromeBellon6 күн бұрын
07:20 Rather than pity, I would say sympathy. Mob knows what the umbrella dude is feeling because he was the same. And they both met someone who offered them an answer. The difference is that Reigen is fundamentally a nice guy, even as he's also a bit of a conman, while the Claw Boss is fundamentally egotistic. 15:23 I'm not too sure, but Mob might just have whatever power he wants or witnesses, although it has never been said explicitly. He learned plant manipulation and astral projection from others a while ago, and he already demonstrated his ability to lend powers during the 1000% (not a typo) "gratitude" explosion in the Claw base. 25:50 We've had percentages for other characters, so... 26:08 "A rage explosion seems like the worst kind of explosion." You might rage indiscriminately and just end up damaging the environment. But exploding with the explicit intent of killing someone would be way worse. This was about to happen once but was disarmed at the last minute.

16:45 I made a comment back in season 1 saying I thought Dimple would be your favorite character, and I was wrong. But I'm glad you appreciate him so much. Sure he originally was just going to use Mob and eventually possess him, but he's definitely part of the family now. Whether it stays that way....Well, you'll see. Dimple is great. Also 24:00 is probably my favorite moment for Mob. "Let me tell you somethi- uhg nevermind, i'm just gonna hurt you" If he was any less of a sweetheart, he'd be saying this kinda stuff all the time. But he finally got pushed over that edge. Day ??? of requesting a Space Dandy reaction. OP, moments out of context etc. I used to comment on every video I watched, until I started asking, now I feel rude lmao

It's like Serizawa and Suzuki are like the alternate version of Mob and Reigen. As we have seen from Mogami's simulation, Mob could've easily ended up like Serizawa if he didn't have the people he had around him. Suzuki says the same thing to him as Reigen "I'll show you how to use your powers" only that the intent is different
@valerdi946 күн бұрын
“Well, to space you go Dimple.” 🤣 I nearly choked on my soda. Dimple: he’s intent on mercilessly killing Shigeo Reigen: 🏃 I always like the detail that Reigen doesn’t shoot until after he sees Mobs face. And his aim was on point.

It wasnt pointed out as something important for later at the time so its easy to think Mobs power is new , but Mob has shown that power before. He absorbed Teru's energy in their fight, and gave his energy to 1000% Reigen and some other examples i think. Its easy to not put two and two together right away, it was my first thought too. The author is great at letting things happen without long or any explanations about why, like a lot of anime do.

We've seen Mob's 100% explosions, we've even seen him go beyond 100% before... but he never wants to. That's what makes his explosions so cool and frightening at the same time. Here's all this awesome power unleashed at 100%... But you're invested in seeing him _not_ loose control because he fights that impulse so desperately.

One important detail about this specific 100% explosion is that his emotion is not locked on rage this time, so it can change to different emotions along the way this time, that's more explicit in the manga, but the anime doesn't show what emotion is feeling all the time

No, Mob's power is wholly different. Notice that Suzuki can only take away from others, or give away his powers (and thus weakening himself). Mob strength, on the other hand, is making others better (not directly necessarily stronger), and thus he grows and becomes stronger too. On one hand, a strict zero sum equation, on the other a positive feedback loop. This is the exact same nature of evil and good that Tolkien uses in his universe, the same in Full Metal Alchemist.
