People always say "Don't paint your house dark because it makes the rooms feels small" but the thing is you can paint the walls what ever colour you like. A house is a your space and you change it to make it feel the way you want it, that makes you feel happy. Others shouldn't tell how to dress your house cause its not theirs. Anyways, congracts on your first home and seeing the black and white stripes on the walls reminds me of Beetlejuice

As a kid, I always wondered "why do adults paint their houses boring colors like tan and white?" Originally I thought it was because anything other than bland colors would look bad, but this guy proves me wrong! This house looks amazing!

It's your space, if you're not gonna make yourself happy in it then what's the point of buying? Just rent if you don't want to customize your space. Not everything needs to be about making a profit.

A lot of neighborhoods you’re not allowed to paint your house black like that specially if you have a homeowners association. You can’t change the front door without their permission.

​@@nimitz1739 most of ny city is like that, but I think my house just happens to be across the street from one of the areas where you need a permit to paint/change color of house. I do need to get a permit to do any construction that's on or touches the house. And I need permits to build a shed.

This is the house I always imagined I would own when I grew up. Now that I have my own home, I'm torn between wanting the mature home that's expected vs. the goth dungeon of my dreams. So until I decide, I'll continue to sit and stare at the beige walls and the beige carpet and brown cabinets 😅 I'm happy to see you went for it! I bet those stripes on the walls we're tough! Like someone else said, highly recommend Lair of Voltaire for more elegant gothic decor. It's really helped my home in looking like an elegant gothic home rather than a Halloween store.

You put your whole heart and soul into this beauty, and it shows. It inspires me too. This is massive work and hard earned money. You are being so humble about your Masterpiece. It is okay to flaunt that house. We all want to see more. Amazing is not even a word for this. Every room has more than one centerpiece that really stands out. I love the striped walls in the hall and the way you did the ceiling on the top of the black stripes. I love the black stenciled circle on the white ceiling above the light when you first walk in. What you did with the kitchen cabinets is cool. All you need is some killer Gothic dishes. The lighting in the studio and the other spare bed room is so functional for you. And your outfit is over the top. I love it all LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!

This is awesome-love how everything ties together and the half black half white room is cool! I'm slowly re-doing stuff at my house and I know the struggle of getting everything just so. Congrats on being a homeowner. I feel inspired now to continue redecorating ( have hit a slump lately trying to figure out what to keep what to toss..I'm afraid if I toss something I may need it later.
