Anyone else think that this scene pretty much went nowhere? Outside of Tabitha's bloody tactics and Barbara consistently being a ADD-ridden woman-child, there is no payoff to Barbara's time in Arkham. It hasn't hardened her to a degree where she seems genuinely professional or calculating. 2x18 seemed to be inferring a general mix of her dark nature and former accountability, and now we're back to these primal, shallow, cackling fits. Maybe instead of shoehorning the existence of this place before the premiere, maybe we should've seen interaction between Barbara and Tabitha TALKING about her desire to open up another business, like if her art gallery closed during her psychosis. Tabitha could've offered to fund the place with Theo's leftover money, and Barbara could actually be a conflicted character. But if these smug, self-indulgent payoffs prove anything, it's that the bulk of the emotional stuff around the side characters has no goddamn weight. It's just written to say, "Heyyy...here's our cool, edgy new stasis! It doesn't need to be based on anything that was in the last season, we'll just briefly give choppy exposition about breakups so you can get to the good stuff. Oh, we're not talking about the character development of Bruce wavering between boyhood and businessman, we're talking about fighting BIG BAD 'MONSTERS', which adds extra suspense despite the fact that they're technically just metahumans!" Good God. If there's going to be insanity on top of rushed storylines...I wish dearly it wasn't so juvenile every time with these two women. They need to get legit HOBBIES outside of their line of work...something like running, writing...anything with plot-driven possibility outside of a one-off guy getting lashed.
