In the actual Adolf Anderssen game, isn't it black to move? move 16 Nc3 was played, and then black played Bc5 in that game, but in this 8:50 position after 16 Nc3 was played..and then white gets another move?? lol I feel like maybe they forgot to select "black to play" when they set up the board position ^_^ or is it on purpose to give Levy a huge handicap?

What is the significance of the starting position?

Basically, this challenge was invented when they were making their chess player tier list. This is an old chess game from long ago by former world champions. In this game they both agreed while analyzing that black was extremely lost in the position, but that the players had no idea why back then as the older chess players played so differently. They both wondered if they gave levy white if he could adopt Hikaru, and they agreed they’d try a set of games from the position as a challenge. Whites position is very winning; although in shambles. blacks king is stuck in center, weak, and he is severely underdeveloped.
