I think that the quality of play is actually *worse* in daily games. In theory you have as much time as you want, but in practice people play a lot of concurrent games. You get home from work and you're tired and hungry and notice there are like 8 games that need you to play a move in within the next 3h... So you quickly go through each, try to figure out what's happening in it and play something that looks good enough. In rapid games you have time limits but when you play them you give the game your full concentration and play them when you are in a good mindset for them. I think that there are more blunders in the daily games than in rapid games of the same level. The only difference are in the end games as people tend to try and calculate those a bit more in daily games.

I need to thank you so much for this series, and in general, just your whole channel's worth of content. Prior to the current chess boom and discovering your channel, I was somebody who played chess rarely. I'd been an avid player from the ages of 3-13, and participated in scholastic chess competitions frequently...then dropped off the game. Upon getting back into it five or so years later, I found that I felt as if my over the board skill was almost "gone", per-se. There were concepts I knew I should be understanding, or that I once understood, that I had lost, and I suffered for it. I was playing at a 900 level online, if that. Then, I found this channel. The way you address strategic concepts like the "laserbeam" (skewer) or "danger levels", the fluidity with which you talk about opening and endgame theory; it's all made things click back into place and I feel like I'm myself again. I've gone up 200+ rating points in the last two weeks and keep climbing; my CAPS is more and more consistently placing me around playing at a 1700/1800 level, and god have I missed feeling like I can move around the board without fearing that every move I make is a blunder. Maybe I'm way too late, but no, usually is not a good trade even if it's 6 points for 6 points, cause your knight and bishop will be way more useful in the middle game than the rook and the pawn, also, You should never do this in the fried liver
