The ripper. 1:30 ghost stories 😅 6:23 I've bever read the secret garden but I did watch a movie of it when I was a kid. 😅 9:48 I went to a theater act locally about Dorian grey. Your dress is great. I'd like to go to seem someday... 15:40 I havent heard much about her husband... interesting. 27:21 the prestige is a good movie. 10 pt scale I like that lol. It's lovely to see the love between you two and the pride. I'm sure you already know this, or have worked it out, but it should be remembered that here in Britain, Christmas was the traditional time of year for telling ghost stories, not Halloween, which is a more recent change (there were ghost stories then, but Christmas was definitely the main time in the year). Personally, I like to keep that tradition going as it feels that the long, long nights and cold are more atmospheric. I haven't finished watching yet. I want my daughter to watch with me if I can😊

Someday, when I need cheering up, I’ll have to reread The Secret Garden with a gothic lens. I really need to read The Autobiography of My Mother and that Shelley biography sounds interesting. Also, your kid is seriously impressive.

I need to reread Secret Garden too and honestly, I’m not sure I even read it! My memories of the story are all from different film adaptations over the years. I love Jamaica Kincaid’s writing. I ended up not going over it in this video because it was just too adult (even though some of my daughter’s reading isn’t necessarily PG, like the Percy Shelley book … she came across some stuff re: his love life). Autobiography of my Mother is a very ‘ugly’ story. Very graphic, reminded me a bit of Edna O’Brien.

Isn’t she amazing!? She’s working on her Percy Shelley project right now, although I consistently have to remind her to stop chasing Stormy around 😂 Yeah, I don’t think I’d want to have been married to Percy either. Interestingly much of his views on marriage and ‘free love’ were adopted from Mary’s parents, but Mary was a bit more conventional and she had all that grief to deal with. There’s a story about her mother, Mary Wollstonecraft : before she was married to Godwin, she was madly in love with Fuseli and presented herself to he and his wife: she wanted to live with the two of them! What I enjoy most about the Percy Shelley book is his relationship to water. 💦

The Victorian Ghost Stories sounds like a perfect winter read...Elizabeth Gaskill has been on my book list. I will have to watch the Innocents... because "hauntings and souls of the dead" are right up my alley 😆 The Secret Garden is a fave, and the movie was so good! Awesome to have a cameo also by the Master of Stormy Heights 👑🐈‍⬛ That was quite an image of Shelley (uh, is that him...on a pyre?) The Prestige film: I need to watch that again & I forgot Bowie was in it! I appreciated the rating scales as a recap 😊🙌 Loved the Salem plugs and bonus Stormy appearance at the end! I was so thrilled when she told me she wanted to make the video 😊 The Innocents is scary and unsettling! Actually, I couldn’t sleep the night I finished editing because I was thinking of the film 😂 Yes, that’s Shelley on a pyre. It’s a depiction of his funeral (well, obviously). He died in a boating accident and his body washed ashore some days later. His loved ones burned his body on a pyre. The Prestige is so good! I remember seeing it in the theatre when it came out and bought a copy immediately on release. The vanilla rose tea is one of my favorites! I love how you can hear Stormy running off near the end after his escape 😂 Well, you can hear it if you listen through headphones… one of my favorite sounds lol ♥️♥️♥️🐈‍⬛
