Jenny and Screech are Brother and Sister. Twins. They were born together and died together without ever knowing each other. Violet (the mom who was abused by her father and boyfriend) was silent (Like Jenny) and Screech was violent (Like Stevie). Generational Abuse ... another taboo topic, like Mental illness. Ren created a true Shaksperean Tragedy. Much love!

Probably don't need to add this but just in case, Violet died and Stevie went to prison so the twins were orphaned and were adopted separately or just grew up separately not adopted...whatever you want to go with. It also may have been a mis-spoken moment but the man who killed Screech was a police officer. You said His friend did it but maybe you couldn't understand the accent. His name was Richard , tall guy ( 6'3") who worked the night shift.

Uninvited... when I need a good giggle the wordplay in that one never fails to amuse... its one of the things I really like about Ren, he is a deadly serious sentimental musician one minute - a violent gangster thug the next and then follows it up with cheeky lad...

1:14 I feel that. I was raised Catholic. Don't feel bad for having that reaction. Abuse from authority figures who represent faith is incredibly difficult to overcome. "Jenny's Tale" was released in 2019. "Violet's Tale" is set in 2005 ("two-zero-zero-five" in the song). So yes, Violet was the mother of both 14 year olds. I have to assume they were put into the foster system (dead mother/murderer father/abusive grandparents) and raised separately never knowing they had a twin. Once you realize that Jenny was 14 years old and had "walked the streets... in high heeled shoes... a thousand times before", her life is just that much more tragic. One thing you may have missed is that each of these videos was a live and uncut performance (maybe one cut as he exits the building door in "Violet's Tale" but I'm not sure). After this, you may want to try something a little lighter. Ren doesn't stick to a single genre even within a song. I don't think I've heard country or opera out of him yet, but just about anything else (including fairly classical piano). You may like some of the busking videos with his band The Big Push - probably their cover/mashup of "War Pigs". I'm a lifelong atheist but I appreciate the mythical archetypes of religion and understand that they make for powerful songs. "God" does come up in Ren's songs from time-to-time, but you don't have to worry about him preaching it. He's very much about what people do to each other (good or bad) so he has quite a few that are commentaries on society. I think he believes in a personal god, but not the god of any religion specifically.

Ren has a very unique ability to become the character that he is singing about at the time and to be able to seamlessly switch between characters taking on their voices their facial expressions and also altering his guitar music to suit the mood. 😊 it makes the whole story far more captivating and almost places you at the scene.

I would suggest a palate cleanser, Ren is not all this heavy. he has a light side too. With this in mind consider his busking in Brighton with the band he was in, The Big Push. They do a great medley of 'I shot the sheriff/Road to Zion/HipHop. well worth checking out.

In Hi Ren, he played a 6 string nylon guitar, in Jenny's Tale he changed to a steel 6 string. He plays a Fender Stratocaster in Chalk Outlines with Chinchilla (highly recommended!). If you check out For Joe & Money Game 3 you'll see he's pretty good on the piano too. A very talented all rounder, Ren can write, sing & play - and act too!

Jennys tale was prompted by a newspaper story and people saying its such a shame then a few months later came Screeches tale then it was nearly 2 years later he released Violets tale tying it all together. Masterpiece.

for backing up, if you use the left arrow, it will back up 5 seconds. the J key will back it up 10 seconds. right arrow and L will advance it 5 and 10. Ren covers some very dark, difficult topics with an unblinking, honest voice. If you need something lighter to bring your mood up, he also has plenty of happier tunes. You definitely have to watch "Chalk Outlines". And if you love extraordinary quitar skills and music that sucks you in, try "Sultans of Swing" from Dire Straits, especially the "Alchemy Live" version. Its a completely other genre, but I think you will love it.

Great reaction ... loved it. Just a tip: Instead of using the mouse to in big chunks move the time back or forward, you can use the right and left arrows for 5 sec jumps forward or backwards.
