Man, that fight was rough! Having disadvantage on almost all, if not all, attacks with these bonuses the party has makes this a hard encounter, well, aside from standard PD dice 😛 Still, that was a good episode! For the algorithm!

In a world where orcs, goblins, giants, and the undead are immune to firearms then what is the over under on a regular crossbow?
@mediocrecomedy42372 жыл бұрын
That's what I've always been confused on, like a crossbow wouldn't work then
@ivyb1954 Жыл бұрын
Maybe it has to do with the different shapes of ammunition? Most bullets that I'm aware of have rounded or blunted tips, while arrows and bolts have sharper tips, so maybe they cut through the skin easier?
@HorizonStronghold Жыл бұрын
@@ivyb1954Not how that works. If a crossbow bolt can pierce the skin, any FMJ round of any caliber would also be able to.

This is also entirely inconsistent with her previous ruling. If you recall, Durzub received his rank by taking a bullet for the boss. If both he and the boss were bulletproof, this would have no meaning.
@ivyb1954 Жыл бұрын
@@HorizonStronghold Oh I thought she was using "taking a bullet" as a phrase and it was actually a spell, considering the scars mentioned and long hospital stay, also assumed necrotic damage with the Lich Ward. It's been a while since I fully watched instead of just using it for background noise lol. The bullet FMJ is a good point though, I'm just not familiar with a lot of ammo.

Rewatching this series, and I love it, I really do. But the way Monty shafted Connor with her gun rules was ridiculous. It would've been alright if she had just put her foot down and said no guns. Instead, she had to make a silly, "Guns can't pierce skin," rule that doesn't make any sense. Durzub got shot. Bullets hit with a harder kinetic energy than ANY punch thrown. Crossbows exist and don't get the same debuffs. She jumped through so many hoops just to end up at the worst location, instead of just saying, "Use a hand crossbow, I don't like guns." Hell, the excuse that gun tech wasn't developed because people can throw fireballs is silly too. Like, okay, so cars and trains don't exist, since people can fly. It unravels the world building. If you wanted to make guns only hit with a specific power, she should've said they can't pierce above, I dunno, a 15 AC. Everything above that is immune. Making non humans take half damage? That's crazy. I know the campaign is done, and I'm just yelling at the wind, but dang, it still annoys me.

God I know right, like when I heard that rule I just thought to myself “so all range weapons are useless then”. I can understand why she hates guns but making that many restrictions to use a weapon that a hand crossbow can bypass is ridiculous, at that point she should have made guns outlawed or nonexistent and told Conner to get a hand crossbow instead. I love Monty’s work but god damn when it comes to some of her ruling I have to face palm.
