Some hits are just unpredictable. My guess is the hit, though not overly dramatic, caused a "reset" for a moment or two. All it takes is an impact of considerable force at the right place at the right time. Hopefully he's fine. Scary stuff.

I mentioned im a pens fan because if you watch nhl games you know that when the pens and flyers meet up it gets heated, i just rrying to show respect for the guy and i hope hes okay is all im saying so calm the fuck down
