That was fuckin fire. Lord knows I've sneaked in bebop licks at wedding gigs but haven't dared go too far outside lmao

Agreed, however any competent jazz musician would shred with class, not just pull out tenor madness, though honestly if I had the skill to shred on tenor madness I’d probably be playing it nonstop.

I hire jazz/bebop sax players (no hard bop..lol) for my r&b band's dates all the time. They bring a tension and flavor that we love and our audiences seems to appreciate. An added plus is the conversations with them in the green room and in between sets is priceless. One of the funniest lines I ever heard at a gig was when a couple of drunken patrons kept making requests for bizarre songs. Our sax player that evening had grown tired of it and also probably the club's atmosphere..He finally grabbed the mike from our lead singer, held up our song list and shouted to the crowd " This is a setlist, not a freaking menu ". I had never heard that line before or since. Needless to say he's our number one call eventhough he's constantly working. 🎩🎼🎩
