2:32 marks the moment centered on the girl. She is overshadowed, confined within the painting, while the man conforms to its framework. This signifies that the man is overly controlling, imposing his way of life and thoughts on her. 2:47 shows the girl's response. She breaks free from the rigid boundaries, declaring, "I don't want to live like this!" 3:35 captures the moment when the girl completely sheds the world bound to the man. At this point, he has lost her forever. 0:45 hints at the beginning, where the man appears as a normal person, unshaped by the painting. From this moment, he starts to transform to fit into the setting. This narrative portrays a love story between two people, where the man is altered by life circumstances, losing his original self. Perhaps poverty has shaped him into someone harsh, rude, vile, dirty, or ill. Alternatively, wealth might have introduced the toxic traits that come with affluence. The woman, unable to bear the world their love has sunk into, steps out of the painting, as though leaving a man reduced to ruin: "I don't want to live like this!" (This could also be interpreted as leaving him because his wealth changed him-essentially leaving because of his transformation.) She rejects the influence of the world surrounding him and, in doing so, rejects him as well. He claims she has changed, but in truth, he is the one who has changed. She is merely returning to her original self. Yet, he is pitiful as he shakes his head in disbelief, lamenting: "You treat me like a stranger, and that's so cruel!" This story illustrates how love must endure when you start to deteriorate, when you grow old, when you become poor, or when you descend into darkness. Eternal love remains steadfast no matter what you turn into, while superficial love quickly takes flight. "Now you're just somebody that I used to know."

Watching my parents sing this to each other a decade ago as a teenager was weird but whats even weirder is being 26 now and I actually appreciate the song , one of the best relationship songs I’ve herd … now me and my fiancé sing this song in the car , gotta love music.

I was 18 when this song came out and it coincided perfectly with my highschool sweetheart moving to another country and us ending it. We tried the whole long distance thing (Skype in 2012/2013 was not nearly as popular as today lol) I just remember us meeting there every couple of days and each time you could just tell things were slipping through the cracks. She finally told me we both deserved to go our own ways, and this song came out the week that it happened, ultimately being the catalyst behind reality sinking in that the fairy-tail was over. This song always reminds me of those moments - it always takes me right back as if at all happened yesterday. It may sound sad but I made peace with it a long time ago, and as I get older I actually find it kind of comforting to have a time capsule that vividly reminds me of those times.

i think this is because of how the quarintine is making everyone sad and and people stay inside and dont talk to eachother that much making people dive deeper into a hole of depression caused by the reduction of society and social needs, and people also like romance but can't have it so love songs and breakup songs are coming back because the need to please people by listening to certain music, rap as an example is not needed rn. And everyone who has nothing to do at home are looking back at the good ol days and search up nostalgic shit.
