In case noone else has pointed this out yet: on The West Wing, a former President leaves President Bartlett a letter in his desk drawer (the letter figures into the story because the episode revolves around Bartlett attending that guy's funeral). Anyway, you see snippets of him writing the letter, and he uses a Mont Blanc. I can't remember whether or not it was a fountain pen. It was a big pen, though, so probably a 149.

Funny story: one of the biggest selling points for me on my first pen, a white Lamy Safari, was "these pens are made of the same plastic as Lego!"

I was really skeptical of live Q&A but I've actually really enjoyed this video. I still prefer the regular format, but I tend to watch these in pieces so I miss out on the advantages of live video most of the time.

For a more classy stub, even though it's not gold the TWSBI Classic is a good choice if your moving from a 580 I believe the nibs units are interchangeable. The Classic just has a more 'Classic' look than the typical demonstrator look of most TWSBI. GPC now needs to contact Pokemon Co. and a manufacture and have a line of Pokemon fountain pens for kids made to start a new fountain pen revolution.

Couldn't figure out how to see this live on YT yesterday, but I caught some of it on FB. The concept was cool, especially with the involvement of others from the crew that was evident. It would be kind of cool in the Q&A's (a portion of it anyway) is from time to time highlight one of your crew with some input on some aspect of a product or business. My only negative critique of the live format is the video quality. There was a constant lag in the video and once at least there was a longer pause in the video though the sound continued. Keep up the good work.

Great episode, enjoyed it a lot, though unfortunately I had no idea and thus missed the live broadcast. A question for your next Q&A (or for whoever would like to chime in): My PhD graduation's coming up and I'd like to get my professor a nice fountain pen as a thank you gift. That's all I've ever seen her write with (we're in Europe so it's way more common), but for whatever reason it's always been red pelikano juniors and twists. I guess it's due to the ease of holding those plus the fact that they literally get destroyed every 6 months or so. I've been wondering if there are any nicer pens (up to a couple hundred $) that can take a beating and are easy to write with. A red version would be awesome too. Thx in advance and keep up the good work.

Here's an idea, in 2015 my son was born so I purchased the yearly edition of Lamy Safari neon lime and plan on giving it to him in the future. I guess it could be called his birth pen. In the mean time I do use it. he he

Just thought I would let you know the worst "Fountain Pen" loss I have experienced. I once owned a Mont Blanc 149 with its own personalized Pen Pouch. Unfortunately I left it in the glove-box of a hire car and when I phoned the hire company in less than 12 hours, they said that nothing of that type had been found. I guess I sponsored a hire car cleaner into the Fountain Pen Hobby.

I wish I had seen this. I have a question! I am beginning my career as a historian/college professor. Do you have a suggestion for a new pen and ink that fits the 'historian' look (stereotype or otherwise)? I currently have a LAMY Safari and a TWSBI Eco with Diamine Sherwood and Oxblood, and I use them daily instead of typical office pens. I'd be willing to spend $50-$100 and tend toward more conservative look but I'm open. Thanks!

Stephan Heisen the biggest I've seen in my 7 years was probably the Noodler's steel flex nib. That has been a real game changer, and gotten flex much more into people's minds than before it was created -Brian

Luke Russell I have little issue with "inspired by" pens like the Jinhao 159 because it just kinda looks like a MB 149 but is clearly not the same thing. I do have a problem with actual ripoff pens that have the same logo and everything trying to actually pass off as the real deal. We're an authorized retailer for all our brands, so fake pens kind of fly in the face of "Be Honest", one of our core values. -Brian
