If you're interested in the irl dish or recipe, the dish is called wowotou or just wotou (窝窝头). It was traditionally a dish for the common folk who needed something that won't go bad on a long trip or during a long day's work. At some point, the Empress Cixi discovered the dish and loved it so much she made it a royal dish and made it hit among the upper-class. Today, you can find both simple wotou eaten by itself as a stable food for many everyday workers as well as fancier versions w/ meats, fish, sweets, healthy organic whole grains marketing, etc.

Watching this cooking reminds me of my mom’s. I always loved her pork buns that she would make from scratch during winter break. I would “help” her when i wasn’t busy with homework (mostly i just made random things with leftover dough) and occasionally she would let me make the 花卷 (green onion twists)
