@xsham555 glad you liked my setup, it's not quite as flashy as some of the others yourself on setup wars but I'm happy with what Ihave. Hopefully see yours on setup wars soon 👍

Thanks for this! I want to upgrade my setups ambience and I think a synced backlight is going to be great

@kungfupanda2594 they really do add to the gaming experience, I put the other set of lights Govee sent me out on my sons monitor and he's never got them off, he loves them.

Thanks for making this video! It was super informative. I especially appreciate the measurements. I have an ultra wide as well and wasn't sure if these would fit nicely but they seem pretty perfect. It was only earlier today I found out about the Govee G1 Pro and G1S lights but I didn't like that they had to have a camera. Seems fine for a TV but not ideal at the computer. These should fit the bill nicely! Pumped to try them out.

@heartben really appreciate the feedback. I hope you can source them ok as I had a bit of difficulty getting a hold of them as have others that have also commented on the video. 100% in agreement with you regarding the camera, you really don't want that sitting on your monitor, yes that particular setup may perform slightly better but I think the ones I have are great and do that job that I want them to do 👌

Just be aware this will use your PC to capture the color that's displayed on your monitor, so.. -5 fps or something like that.
@Davemac122383Ай бұрын
How does this kit get the info from the PC to match the colors from whats on screen to the LEDs? I know some of the other LED TV/Monitor strips have a camera that is mounted and will "see" the on screen colors and replicate the colors to the LEDs? Do you need a sync box or a camera for these LEDs to match up with whats being displayed on screen?
@BrisyTechBytesАй бұрын
It's all done through the Govee Desktop app which you need to have running on your PC and dreamview turned on, so its basically done over wifi/bluetooth

@@BrisyTechBytes Does it impact the FPS when you play with it? I had some cheap led strip from ALI, but the software tanked my fps hard (specs: 5700X3D, RX3070, 32GB ram). Thx for the video btw.
@BrisyTechBytesКүн бұрын
@TengerTenge I'll try and check that out for you, will run a benchmark in a game with the dreamview effect on and off to see if there is any difference....don't expect it'll be much to be honest if anything.

@@BrisyTechBytes Oh wow, that would be awesome. Thanks ahead and thanks for the quick response!

@TengerTenge ok just got round to doing the benchmark, so I've got a 3440x1440p monitor, Ryzen 9800X3D, RTX 4070ti Super and 32gb of 6400mhz DDR5 ram....with the dreamview setting on I lost 6fps on the Cyberpunk 2077 benchmark with all settings set to ultra

So how do these plug into the hdmi port?
@BrisyTechBytes2 ай бұрын
@koolroskii9746 they don't, it's all done over WiFi/Bluetooth which for me is great as it keeps it more cable clutter free. Basically the govee desktop app has to be running on the PC to achieve the screen mimic effect
@koolroskii97462 ай бұрын
@@BrisyTechBytes Ah yeah I see that, that's pretty cool! You mentioned about slight latency issues at times. Is there a competitor you would pick over this if money was no object?
@BrisyTechBytes2 ай бұрын
@koolroskii9746 I used to have the Corsair LS100 lighs on the back of my monitors, those were great with their reaction time but the kit is expensive and I had to also buy an expansion kit for it due to the size of the monitor, through time led's start to fail on the strips and I had to replace them, also they fell off the back a few times and ended up replacing them with these Govee lights. There are other alternatives, Govee has the lights that use a little camera, I have this setup on my TV but have it modded that the camera is hidden but couldn't do that with my PC setup and really don't want a camera mounted on my screen, not that I could as I have a stacked monitor setup. They might be OK for you though, have a look for Govee Gaming Lighting Kit or dreamview kits. Nanoleaf and Phillips also do their own similar versions to the Govee stuff but can't comments on those as I've never used them.

im shocked they are this cheap and work so well
@BrisyTechBytes2 ай бұрын
@kritexz yeah, superb little bit of kit. It certainly looks cleaner than those that come with a little camera.

@@BrisyTechBytes yeah im planning on getting these the only problem is i had some led light bars on the back of my monitor and i cannot remove the mounting thing
@lewR600Ай бұрын
i cant get this anywhere...govee not much help but by sounds of it not selling it no more....bit gutted as seemed ideal for me
@BrisyTechBytesАй бұрын
@ed40lew yeah it took me a bit of time to get them, always seemed out of stock on the Govee website, I set up the notification for when they came back in stock but ended up getting them on Amazon as they turned up in stock on there for a bit, slightly dearer than on the Govee site though. What was weird though is that when I had what I thought was an issue with the lights, Govee sent out replacement ones right away, so they clearly had some 🤷♂️
