Very good demonstration, thank you! 👍 Am i seeing it right, that the Govee bulb doesn´t have any flickering on the video recording!? Seems that there is no flickering no matter which color and dimming setting you used in the video. Normally rgb bulbs in this price class have flickering if you dimming the light in color modes and white modes.

If I wanted to use this as a ceiling lamp in a bathroom would I have to use the app etc to turn in on every time, or can it be controlled simply from the wall switch (just basic on and off function)?

In order for these smart light bulbs to work, the switch will always have to remain on or else they will have no power source. However, these light bulbs do work with Alexa and Google Assistant so you should be able to control them with just your voice. I hope this helps! CNL

Question. I was told to keep the switches on at all times and use the app/alexa to turn the actual lights on and off. Does this increase your electric bill a lot or no? It could be from using the heater this winter, but my electric bill went from 130 before lights and bad weather, to 160 with lights and bad weather, and now at about 200 this month with the apartment being empty most of the time

I'm no electrician, and certainly no expert, but my understanding is that yes, it still draws power when the switch is on even if it isn't doing anything. The same applies to cell phone chargers. I don't think it's much, and I don't know how much the bulbs pull (if any), but yeah.

It shouldn't be much of a noticeable difference in your light bill for having these on while off. I don't have much of a difference and I replaced almost every bulb with these and keep them on.

you should be able to use that command but just take out the word “scene”. i just got govee led strips that are alexa controlled and i just say, “alexa, ceiling lights rainbow” and it does the rainbow scene. or “alexa, ceiling lights aurora” and it does the aurora scene.

Is it possible with this bulb to set a timer so that in the evening it dims to 20% (say), staying on through the night as a night light before then coming back on to 100% in the morning. This would be a really good feature for my kids room. From your review, it seems that it is possible to set it to come on slowly in the morning over a period of time to 100% brightness. However, I'm not sure about at night. Does it have the functionality to dim down to 20% and then stay on through the night as a night light or does it have to switch off completely? Many thanks.

Thinking about this further, if what I described is not possible, then would it be possible to set one timer to switch the light off at night (say at 20:00) and then have a second timer to switch a light back on to 20% at the same time (20:00)? This would then achieve the same effect. I'm just not sure what is possible through the app. Many thanks.

I'm pretty sure you can put them in a "basic control group" you can set them all to the same colour or adjust brightness, but since they're different models you'd need to adjust them individually for anything more advanced like scenes and timers

It says that in order to run, it wants: -permission to use the camera at any time without my confirmation. -permission to use the microphone to record at any time without my confirmation. -permission to connect and disconnect from wi-fi, and transmit/received data. None of the above are required in order to talk to a Bluetooth enabled device. This is supposed to be just a light bulb, it shouldn't need such privileges in order to function

It uses the camera for color matching, the microphone for syncing to audio from your mobile device, and the connecting/disconnecting to WIFI is obvious since that's how you manage or group them. The camera and audio are completely optional. If you don't want to use them, you don't need to give them permission.
