Grow your investment portfolio by investing in government securities.
Government bonds and treasury bills provide the liquidity and stability that stocks or investments don't.
If you want to know more about government bonds and treasury bills this is the video for you. I definitely want to try this out in the near future and I hope you will too. Visit the BoZ website for more information here www.boz.zm/

To make it simple think about t-bills as short term, g-bonds long term. The cheaper they are to buy typically the higher yield it will have because they're not in favor. Supply and demand conversely will tell you the lower the yield the more the note/bond cost because they are in demand and being bought. To make the % simple higher the percentage means higher risk of not paying. So like Zambia has a 10yr Bond yielding 30% which may sound good but Zambia is also going through the start of an economic crisis and is defaulting on its debt all over the world as we speak.... not very safe. Conversely our US 10yr bond sits at around 1.5% but its the US, you know only the most stable economy in the world with a currency that the whole world holds as the "gold standard".

This was amazing. Glad I discovered you. I'm 26 , saved my first ever emergency fund . And now my next step was to actually start investing and this was amazing information and I want to invest in bonds because I can afford to pay that. Treasury Bill's will be for when I save more as they want massive amounts.

Zambia's current 10yr sits at 30% haha theres a whole video right there just on that! They were the first African country to default on their loans since Covid started. They've already defaulted on Euro bonds fearing they wont be able to pay off its debt to China being they by far owe the most to China. Also back in November I believe S&P Global Ratings downgraded Zambia from an already bad CC rating to "Restricted Default". Rough sea's ahead for Zambia's economy!

Let's use small numbers If you buy a treasury bill for k2000 then the bank charges 108% and you are charged k250 administration fee does that mean one is making a loss? And can you lose your money?

It's been an interesting experience. Long story short when getting started your bank is a key player. It is a profitable investment and there are some changes taking place esp with the bidding side of things. It is interesting to watch how everything continues to unfold.
