It is not a question of religious freedom. It is deplorable that people argue whether triple talaq is condoned by the Quran or not. That is not the issue. The issue is whether women are equal to men or not, whatever be the religion followed by them, whatever its doctrine says. A country's laws cannot be based on any religion because we wish to be ruled by laws made by us, not laws that are claimed to have been revealed by God. That is democracy, that is a republic, that is what is implied by "rule of law". Rule of religious law and by religious authorities are exploitative and expediently changeable in their interpretation; we do not want that in our democratic republic, period. Those who do not submit to rule of law and our constitution are free to leave our country and go wherever the rule by their religious laws is practised/ acceptable to the people there. They have no right to live here and disobey our constitution, on whatever grounds, including religion.

triple talak is a system in ISLAM to get divorce. and its the most difficult way to get divorce. once a man need to get divorce he should follow the below steps to get divorce. 1.Man and his wife should live in same room for a specific number of days on different bed without any physical contact(sex). if they involve in sex , then divorce procedure discontinues. 2. if the first step is cleared then they both should live in same house in different room without any physical contact for a specific number of days. 3. if the 2nd step is also cleared then the elders from both the family should sit together and try to solve the issue. it the elders also fails then man can get legally divorce from women by declaring the FIRST THALAK. BUT WHILE DECLARING IF SHE IS ON HER PERIODS HE SHOULD NOT DECLARE. Should wait for it to get over. remeber this is the process for FIRST THALAK. after first thalak they are separated. while they live in separation , and if they feel to be together then again they can.. and if again they feel to divorce they should follow all the above steps.. then the 2ND THALAK is declared..., if again the join and feel to be seprated they should again follow the above steps and 3rd Thalak is declared.. its the final,, after that they cannot be together unles that women is married to someone else and she get divorce from him.... this is done so that the divorce is not a game since 3 chances are given. LOOK OUT THE PROCEDURES . HOW HARD IS TO GET DIVORCE IN ISLAM.. AND ALLAH SAYS WHEN A SINGLE DIVORCE HAPPENS ON EARTH HIS THRONE SHAKES. ITS THE ONLY THING IN ISLAM WHICH IS ALLOWED TO DO AT EXTREME POINT EVEN THOUGH ALLAH DISLIKES IT. NOW MY DEAR FRIEND , DONT YOU FEEL TRIPLE TALAT IS BETTER? ITS EASIER TO GET DIVORCE AS PER OUR CONSTITUTION... BUT FOR BAD THESE ARE NOT THE PROCEDURES FOLLOWED BY MUSLIMS IN OUR COUNTRY,, BUT ACTUALLY THESE HAS TO BE FOLLOWED.

Forget all the politicization. I am not advocating any religion or political party. With all due respect to all the "Holy books", there should be a common code for divorce. This is a time for some social reformation. How "Satti" and "Child Marriage" was banned in India, "Triple Talaq" should be banned. This is a change that many will resist and reject. But, for the sake of your own daughters and sisters future, we should support having common code for divorce

Wow! Now that was amazing Arnab. I saw the entire debate when Mr. Pathan was misbehaving in the utmost intolerable and disgusting way, just imagine if this level of audacity is shown by some people to protect their hypocritical interests at the cost of others virtues on national television. What would have happened behind the cameras or otherwise in day to day life when they oppress women for demanding the most basic of all social security. Also, I would like to add that it is not the Muslim community which is been questioned on their religious beliefs, but by entire humanity on misleading people to follow some orthodox and unrealistic approach towards the way we live. Such orthodox misbeliefs of "Sati", "Dudh-Peeti" etc have also been banned long back. And certainly, India is much free and developed as a state since such malpractices have stopped. Thus I salute you Mr. Arnab for taking a stand against Tripple Talaq. And I support you for your actions the other day in your studio.

Why India is only Country in the world which obeys 3 talaq although it is not a part of Islam??? there are many many Muslim country but they are not following it. There are many Democratic countries. so, it is not a question on democracy.
