There is still a need to empower the municipal corporations via fiscally and technically empowered regional county councils run by their composite municipal mayors towards the TIMELY/SYSTEMATIC MAINTENANCE OF SOME PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE like community residential roads, rural roads, public schools/clinics repair and timely/tax saving maintenance of community sports facilities etc. (e.g., the long ignored running track at the Montego Bay Stadium)....

My question to Nigel Clarke and this dumb JLP government is why they allow foreign investors e.g BPO businesses and Hotel and Resorts owners to pay the Jamaican people dirt cheap wages when these businesses customers are 99% US and foreigners and these businesses get paid in US dollars. I can understand a person working at Jamaican tax office or Jamaican KFC to get paid Jamaican minimum wage because all transactions are being done in Jamaican dollars and 99% of their customers are local Jamaicans but I do not expect a Jamaican worker at RIU hotels and Sandals resorts to get paid Jamaican minimum wage because 99% of these businesses clients are foreigners and they are charging them US rates and doing business in US dollars. It makes no sense. Tourism workers should not be paid Jamaican minimum wage. This JLP government is not addressing the problem. Jamaican workers need to be paid a living wage. They need to be paid fairly for the work they do. Higher wages means higher tax revenues for the government.
