I just had a couple of packages delivered by Purolator to my door tonight, that were from China. These deliveries were always Canada Post in the past, so I wonder if Purolator are sneaking in a few CP deliveries? Good on them, if they did! Very misinformed. Ask me anything ...I'll answer. Cp employee here. If you knew the bonuses the corporation make off our backs ...the wages of ceo..vps..superintendents...directors...managers you would understand more. Cupw brought you maternity leave years ago and companies followed suit. Brought you 8 hr days ot after 8...40hr weeks. We were on the picket line for all Canadians trust me please as I know it did not seem that way to all. The ceo of Canada post sits of board of directors as well for Purolator and the day the strike began...gave 65% decrease to businesses. That's called union busting and I believe he will be fired for this. Please believe me I understand the publics opinions and frustration...I've had no wage for a month trying to stand strong on the line for all workers...unionized or not. There is so much more to this than the public knows.

Good news about negotiations. I was an active union steward for CWA, Communications Workers Of America, when I worked for New York Tel, NYNEX, Bell Atlantic and Verizon Communications. Very early on, we went on strike for 7 months! Negotiations are seldom easy and sometimes, The National Labor Relations Board gets called in to “help” settle the strike. So you are making progress. The way I see it, governments tax you to death and do have the money for higher wages and benefits. Some politicians become quite affluent in their positions. Believe me, the Government has the money and they want to keep it. So good work for the postal union and the good people of Canada.
@robertbridgen295021 сағат бұрын
The government has no money it is the taxpayer that pays and to be honest why is it Canada Post loses millions each year and other businesses in the same industry are making mega profits. We need to look at how government businesses run. Shut Canada Post Down it is a scam on taxpayers
@BayBye201121 сағат бұрын
the government should have stepped in a heck of a lot sooner as a lot of charities, isolated communities, and areas who rely on CP are suffering big time. and those who still get their pensions thru CP are facing evictions and can not pay their bills....they picked the one wrong time of the year to make Canadians suffer... if they are not happy they are free to quit and get another job but try to find one that pays better and has better extras like healthcare, pension, sick days, vacation etc....

Shut Canada post down . The government should look at why other parcel delivery and envelope service makes a profit and Canada post lost billions over the last 5 years.
@tanyak486819 сағат бұрын
Completely misleading comment. Canada Post management wants what you want. Here's the problem remote and rural communities and they are supposed to be an affordable service for all Canadians to use. It is a service. An essential service. They don't want to pay for essential part of service. They want to cut that mandate loose and as you said sell our assets and compete with commercial private businesses. That profit was never supposed to be their priority but providing essentials. And with increasing domestic terrorism. You want to remove a body that tracks and monitors domestic packages delivered. Gain perspective. Business leaders prioritize money and bonuses for themselves. Keep post office public protect people from further price gouging and protect their rights to essentials

I'm all for everyone making a good wage. But to strike at this time of the year....they must have thought that they would get their demands met due to pressure from Canadians angry that they can't send Christmas packages. But for me it's had the opposite effect. I feel that striking at this time of year was a manipulative move. I think they may have had more public support if they would have waited till after Christmas - and of course delivered essential mail like cheques.
@APR61322 сағат бұрын
Of course they strike when it is advantageous to do so. It would be counter productive to strike if no one needs them. It is the only negotiation power a union has. And it helps to get the strike settled as quickly as possible with a better outcome for the workers. Put yourself in their position. Would you rather work for pennies or dollars?
@linaway7621 сағат бұрын
Negotiations have been going on since AUGUST 2023! It is Canada post that refuses to negotiate. In Canada the charter of rights and freedoms only applies until you inconvenience the government. Don’t think for a second this was done to help Canadians and businesses. This was a power play done by the government and to only help the government.
