Thanks Mohit. Glad to know that you liked our lectures. Honestly, this is not the reflection of our In-depth learning. This is just basic level learning from our perspective. If you really have passion to learn VMware in-depth beyond basic L1/L2 level administration tasks then we would recommend you to explore our vSphere Zero to Hero Deep-Dive Program. This program is way more in-depth and help professionals to master this technology. As i mentioned, it depends upon learner capability, interest, passion and their career objective. We do see many learners are satisfied with basic administration level knowledge itself. If that's the goal then our youtube channel is way more enough. If you have interested learn more in-depth about architecture, implementation, packet and stack level details then we would recommend you to explore our vSphere Zero to Hero Program. Good job on this video. simple and clear for the problem step by step. I will suggest doing a PSCP copy of all log files and configuration files before we fixed so we can have the root cause.

Thank you Eric for your kind feedback and appreciating our efforts :) You are absolutely correct, we should always be copying the log file and config files before fixing it so that we can root cause the issue later. This should be the general practice all the time as you suggested.

Great and informative video! Question though, I have a vsphere portal showing the VMs status as unknown. However, on a exsi the hostd and vpxa service show enabled. The VM services are also still accessible. Any thoughts?
@govmlab2 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, if you do see VM status as unknown which means that vcenter server is trying to find out the VM to specific location but it's not able to find it. Look like, VM location present in VMX file and doesn't match up with Location mentioned in vCenter Server inventory database. Since there is mismatch about VM location between VC database and VM exact location. That could be one of the reason, why VC shows VM as unknown. You can try unregistering the host of that specific VM from vcenter server and add it back. In that case, VC will update it's inventory database and might relocate that VM correctly. we hope, we could answer your query.
@Simping4cats2 жыл бұрын
@@govmlab concur with govmlab. It has happened to me several times. It happens when issues arise between Vcenter, the esxis and your datastores. Finding the vmx file is critical. Remember in the datastores vm folders will keep the original name of the VM. if the VM has changed names multiple times I would verify by dates, times and data.

@govmlab3 жыл бұрын
Hi Haneef If you server is not accessible through both SSH and ILO console Then you will have to connect monitor directly to Esxi host server using console port & get access to DCUI console This is not vmware specific issue ....its moreover environment or setup specific issue....can't help much on that

How would we get into dcui consol other than lab environments where base esxi isn't present.?
@govmlab3 жыл бұрын
Hi Rejeeve, Sorry but your question itself is not clear. DCUI console accessibility remains the same whether it's Lab or Production environment. DCUI console refers to Server Console which can be access either having direct access to Server Monitor screen or using ILO/IDRAC. I hope it clarifies your doubt.

VMs in Esxi gets frequent disconnected, what can be the issue ?
@govmlab Жыл бұрын
Hi Pratik you should check for VM network connectivity or may be checkout the vNIC adapter type. sometime, it could VM NIC driver issue as well. Please look into vmkernel.log, hostd.log and vmware.log file for detailed investigation and root causing this issue.

What if I can't connect over dcui? F2 don't get correct password.
@govmlab3 жыл бұрын
Hi Alex DCUI is similar to Server Console screen through which we get direct access to ESXi server when it's not reachable over Network. Yes, To access using DCUI, we need to remember root password of ESXi Host. If we don't remember it, then we can't connect to ESXi host using DCUI. Best Practices from VMware: Please make a note of root password and make sure you don't forget it. That's the reason, we always create another user with root user privileges to avoid such cases. You can reset the ESXi root password using Host Profiles only if ESXi Host is accessible from vCenter Server and profiles can be attached to this host.

Hello sir Thanks for the information provided which is really helpful I have a question here If the esxi host reaches its maximum memory 99.9% does the host gets disconnected from the vc and its unable to ping and the kvm console is showing as "No Signal" and after sometime it got connected back to vc not sure what happened, how can we troubleshoot this issue
@govmlab3 жыл бұрын
Hi Haneef That's a worst situation if your esxi host memory utilization goes upto 99.9% In such Scenario, there shouldn't be any doubt if your esxi host becomes unresponsive.
@govmlab3 жыл бұрын
You should think about reducing memory utilization of the host by migrating vms to other hosts or add more memory to host. You can view memory utilization using esxtop command

Hi Viral If datastore is out of space. In such scenarios, VMkernel will suspend the running VMs which are requesting for datastore consumption. If your VM is in powered off state, then VM power on operation will fail due to out of datastore space issue.

Hi Prasad, There could be many reasons for that: 1. may be hostd daemon is not responding 2. may be VPXA and VPXD connectivity channel is broken 3. may be ESXi host management network connectivity is down 4. may be issue with firewall port blocking
