Govt to help nurture Kiribati language in Aotearoa

Kiribati Language Week Celebrations started with a focus on preserving the native tongue of the 3,225 Kiribati people in New Zealand. 50% speak the Tungaru dialect, with 24% of speakers under 15 years old. The community is now racing to keep the language alive among the youth.
