The Gowanus E-Waste Warehouse is on a mission to divert as much electronic waste from landfills as possible.Through their recycling program, NYC residents can drop off electronic waste free of charge. Some electronics can be refurbished and sold at their Re-use Store, providing low-cost electronics to the community, while others are kept to provide props to filmmakers.
Head to 469 President Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn on Tue-Sat to drop off electronics or shop at the store.

I hope that business continues to do well. It's so cool how they repair and resell electrical items that may have otherwise ended up in land fill. These businesses definitely deserve more recognition. Keep up the good work!

@@zal333 Yeah I heard it closed down. It's a shame because those kinds of businesses deserve more recognition. I hate it when things go to waste, especially if the item is still in good working condition.

Having been there, pretty much the only things in this video that they actually repaired and resold were Macbooks and related accessories (beat-up chargers, Apple keyboards, etc.). Aside for a few things they kept for their prop collection (which you couldn't buy), everything else was sent off to get torn up for raw materials, or just left to rot on the racks. And a lot more of considerable value besides, some of which we begged them to let us pull the drive for them and we'd pay whatever they asked. Those old Macs and iMacs, a stack of PS/2s, we even spotted a beautiful old AT&T 6300 on top of a stack of Tandys. We brought a couple hundred in cash (after $20 in tolls) and they would not let us leave with so much as a Selectric. If anyone happened to work there who actually appreciated the worth of those machines they just had strewn out on the floor in the back, I hope they helped find good homes for that stuff before it disappeared.

My name is Volodymyr. I live in Ukraine in a small village. I'm just a mechanic who lives and works in my village. I see in your video a good life in America. I am very glad how other Americans live, and how bad we live in Ukraine, and especially in villages. In our village there is a large three-floor school and a primary care clinic. Perhaps there are organizations that throw away old laptops, printers, or monitors in your place. Well, things that they already do not need, but they can still work fine. I have seen such videos on the Internet as companies throw away laptops, and other working office equipment in processing. I looked at the video and thought that we do not have such laptops and printers at the school for children and in the hospital. Our school and hospital are, but not enough. You can find out if there is such an organization that plans to dispose of working equipment again. Maybe they could send it to my village in Ukraine for schoolchildren and to the hospital, but only for free? If it is not difficult for you to ask such organizations, ask them. You will do a good job.Maybe someone will read this message differently and would like to help our school. I do not incline you to anything, I just ask, maybe among you there are people who know who is old, but the computer equipment that you or them is no longer needed, but it is fully operational. You can send it to Ukraine in my village, in school for students, so as not to throw it into a trash can. P.S. I just want to somehow help my village, and especially schoolchildren. Therefore, I appeal to people with more opportunities than me.

Most of that had to be procured before the a-hole cord cutters got to them. Retro is not my go, but plenty do find it funky. i don't do retro but i also much prefer to skip ' generations ' of the latest. Like, I'm not in the market for a TV. You could not pay me to take the latest wallpaper 60 inch LCD, let alone me shell out several grand for one. I have a practical disinterest.

Having been there, they will not sell any of that. If you're interested in some modern used Apple stuff or some cartridge games, go for it, but basically nothing in the video is for sale. Unless their policies changed, all of that stuff is for rent only.
