Ineos told me they initially tried them with just tape and in the crash test they came off and went straight through the windscreen. That's why they rivet them on.

May be the case. I believe in a crash test a lot of aftermarket stuff is going to follow the momentum and separate from the vehicle like roof racks, side mount molle panels, numerous light applications I have seen. Most of the mounting schemes are just not designed for abrupt stops.

Good video. Is there any difference in the load bearing capability of either solution ?.....would the rivets make the plate act more compositively with the fender panel below and therefore increase its stiffness and load carrying capacity ?

The fender and structure beneath are advertised to hold 330 pounds. That is without wither solution of a fender cover. I think there are a couple unique caracteristics for each. First asthetic appeal. Do you like the texture and rivets in the OEM panel? Or do you like the cleaner look of the GP with the potential to remove later. Secondly, both function the same way. I was working on a customers Grenadier this weekend and he complained that his rivets were rusting in the center, which they were and it really bothered him. They had used some black rivets that had a steel core.

@DesignBuildGoLLC Thanks for the detailed answer. If load bearing capacity is the same, then they non riveted solution is advantageous. Rivets rusting like you describe would be very concerning.

great video. I noticed you have a driver side grab handle. Did you do the install?

Yes I did. I may have taken some video as well I can post it up if you would like. I got the parts from the dealer. Runs about $400. Agile Offroad is making one that should be about half that price. We sell Agile gear as well. I really use the grab handle everyday especially when lifted.

I have protective film on my fenders, should that come Off prior to install of either of these?

I would say not to take it off. Either way if you take the PPF off later you can work it up to the edges, heat it up slightly and cut it and remove. Otherwise you still retain the Just finished this comparison video. Lots of good stuff if you are doing either. These GP Factor Plates provide a unique look that set apart from the crowd. PPF on the fender so I wouldn't worry about it. I prefer the look and thickness of the GP. It really stands out. I have kept looking at it since I installed it.
