I guess this is another one I can give a story for, although I have more important stuff to be doing :P 60 years ago, there used to be a lumber processing facility, it fell unprofitable, and was sold at auction when it went bankrupt. The last move the company did before the sale was it at least cleared the land of some of the buildings, along with much of the remaining lumber. they sold off the raw materials to at least pay back the debts, but it wasn't enough. as a result, what was left is what got auctioned off. The auction house in control of the auction however, accidentally stated everything remaining on the property was to be included in the sale. This included some Chessie System rail equipment that the company didn't yet move off the property, and as a result of the error from the Auction house, it was included in the sale. The property went to a stubborn man that refused to just let Chessie system take their equipment back, and on one occasion chased off an employee with a shotgun. the company no longer felt it was worth it to retrieve the equipment, and just pretty much wrote it off. the locomotive sat for many years, with the man attempting to scrap bits of it many times over the years, but never got too far. The man eventually died, and the property was then inherited by his Granddaughter, who had no real use for the property. She proceeded to contact a rail museum to ask for advice on what to do with the equipment left on the land, and sure enough, they said they'd take it off of her hands. a couple weeks later, the Museum brought in one of it's locomotives to pull the Chessie GP9 out of it's grave. the new property owner was glad to see it gone, and the museum was glad to have some more equipment ready to restore. Fin.

This is a lot like the one in Tillamook Oregon when the locomotive operations were suspended and abandoned after the 2007 washout that washed out the tracks between banks and Tillamook.

HRT 6525 still sits in Athens, Ga in an industrial track. The Hartwell Railroad has no plans to do anything with it anytime soon. They also have HRT 454, an EX MLW SD7 in Airline, Georgia, that has been dead since 2010. No plans to do anything with them. The CEO said he won't spend a penny on paint.

Good information, thanks

I’ve seen it in Athens and 454 I would repaint both of them if I could and they could donate them to museums

Is there any more detailed information on where HRT 6525 is located in Athens GA? Nearest intersection or crossing? Heck even a street name somewhat close to where it is? I would love to see it in person.

Your reskins are great! Why dont you share them?? On railworks america for exemple. Most of the rolling stock on ts is always to much clean to be realistic and you are very good at make wethering and rusty stuff! Maybe not all your reskins but even a few of them can be realy cool!
