The past few years come July off AC I've become a mahi whisperer. I'm usually done and omw home by 9am. I get on the grounds by 3am. We got a large area with pots. I'll lightly chunk the last hour and a half of dark. As soon as I have any light I back track to the start of my drift and troll my chunk slick back. Tracking in and out of the pots. I troll all ballyhoos. Once I'm hooked I get the fish next to the boat and if it wasn't a double I'll toss chunks around the hooked fish. If I see some I have 3 spinners ready. 1 has a popper and 2 are hooked. Once I hook on a spin I put that in the holder and boat the 1st and just keep switching to it's over. The majority of guys steam up to the pots and stare down then there chunks. They have spooked every fish that was there. By 9 it's over anyway because every goon has blown every pot up. That's when I blind troll for other species. Or kite fish through the pots. I get wahoo bluefin yellowfin and King mackerel. Occasionally a white will show. Mind you I'm in a 16ft boat too 😂
