Nudge Jesper is full of crap. Well of course games have changed and are worse in terms of storytelling, but there are still great games that surprise. Man, if you’re using your sister’s laptop, I assume that it isn’t a high end one. Good games that don’t require to much power, are Minecraft, League of Legends (although I hate it), the old GTAs from GTA 3 to San Andreas, Cuphead, The Witcher 2, Assassins Creed I, II, Revelations and Brotherhood and some more. Some old games like Quake and Unreal Tournament never get old, Doom is also pretty good.

Daniel Nery just got my new build put together today with a 1660 super, but I’m still using a 60hz monitor from the early 2000’s. Noted: In the RX series, - The two digit number of the variants is the old style of naming, and for example the rx 550, 560, ...., 590 is basically similar to the prev gens, which is the 4th gen. - The triple digit number of the variants is the new type of naming, so that you can differentiate between them.

Can you do a video explaining the specs of a graphics card, what to look at/compare when you want to buy - in the most average-user-friendly way possible?
@jazmihamizan4987
@jazmihamizan4987 4 жыл бұрын
Would be very difficult since number of cores in a GPU and its clock frequency doesn't always correspond to performance in a universal manner. Example scenario is a card with 1000 cores that runs on 1000mhz from the version 3 years ago might actually be slowee than a new card that has 800 cores and runs at 800mhz. But I'll give you a run down on what you need to look when buying a graphics card. 1) Understand what you are buying. This is often 95% depending on how much you're willing to spend on. If you're willing for 200 bucks, its on the budget level. If you're willing for 300 bucks its on the mid level and so on. 2) Names can guide you to their "level". The first half of numbers usually denotes the generation of the cards. Newer cards tend to be faster than older ones. The GTX 650 is rumored to be better than GTX 560 for example. For the standard 3-4 digit names, a 50 model is usually the budget end. This model should be able to run most games on mid to high settings, and at least can run a really demanding game at lowest quality. (also understand that older 50 model cards may not be able to cope with the demands of a more resource intensive games is some cases). The 60 models are mid-end and having one of these means you wont be expecting an upgrade in 2 or 3 generations. The 70 models are high end and should at least run nearly all games available at 1080p60 with max settings. These are good for going the long stretch. 80 models like the RTX2080 or GTX1080 are enthusiast level. Usually owned by the 1% for that 100% dominance. 3) what games are you gonna play. Open world games tend to require large amounts of VRAM so make sure you have at least 3GB of VRAM for a nice experience in open world games. Local map games can also more than 2GB when you use a higher quality texture. In general, how much VRAM needed is related to how big the game world is rendered, and how big the texture resolution are. Typically 4k gaming needs more than 6GB of VRAM 4) Power and Heat. Understand that more powerful cards demand more power from your power supply. Cards that pull more power also tend to produce more heat. This doesn't always means higher GPU temperature. This means the general amount of heat your GPU produces. TDP helps you to identify the power draw of the card, and the amount of heat you're expect to heat your room up. Make sure your power supply can handle the demand, and make sure the PC chassis and the environment can handle that amount of heat. Newer cards have better cooling and higher efficiency but keep in mind that a hot room means the cooling system doesn't hold its own weight that well. 5) how many displays do you need. If you're doing more than gaming, such as streaming or editing you will find that extra displays have great value. Most modern cards have at least 3 ports (although some may not support up to 3 displays) and 4 ports on the higher end side. Should you need more display, a second GPU is needed and you need to ensure the second GPU can coexist with the first one. Different from SLi/Crossfire 6) the only way to check the performance of a card is to test it in a benchmark. You can find many benchmarks online but keep in mind of the silicon lottery factor. These things have *billions* of transistors so its nearly impossible for any two cards to have the exact number of cards. Two cards of the exact same make can have two different benchmark scores but in most cases they are irrelevant, except when you're doing overclocking. *Please do not overclock without intense research and accepting the risk of turning your GPU into a brick*. These benchmarks scores are also indexed with their retail prices to show you you the price to performance value of the cards. TLDR; budget, gpu target range, vram demand, power and heat, number of displays, benchmarks. Look at these 6 to figure out which gpu you need. That's pretty much the most detailed i can go about explaining this topic

What about the Titan X? Where does that card fall in line? Also I'm guessing the reason I haven't heard that word in a while is because they replaced it with "90" as in "3090"? Also my current card from AMD is labeled in task manager as an "R9 390 series" card. This leads me to believe that the X in RX is just like the iPhone X where they refuse to use "10" to represent the tenth product.
