This makes sense as APU allows for extremely fast connection between the cpu and gpu on one die. In theory, this will eventually outpace the performance of high end gpus as much of the communication wait time will be extremely reduced in a smaller package and lower power draw. The future is bright.

But the. MEmory is much slower than vram
@ambocc13 сағат бұрын
@@Tigerex966 It doesn't need to be as fast since CPU and GPU has a direct link to each other. So you don't need as much preprocessed data on the GPU ram sitting idle and able to do more realtime data from system ram. The biggest problem between GPU and CPU has always been the wait time to transfer data back and forth.
@Tigerex96612 сағат бұрын
@ambocc this is why camm2 is faster to make up for any loss from. Potentially losing that however newer motherboards can take away that bottle neck all together allowing full link speed access to the memory from the cpu gpu and npu. They dont have to be on the same due, just interconnected correctly. Like soldered ssds VS pcie ssds. Depending on implementation either can be faster and have lower latency although it should be easier with soldered close to the soc ssds.
@ambocc12 сағат бұрын
@@Tigerex966 It won't be as good. The advantage of placing it on the die it also the close proximity to everything including the share cache. There's also much larger 3D v cache coming and it will speed things up exponentially. This is just the beginning and I think it will be the future path for AMD. It will also be cheaper to manufacture and allows for smaller powerhouse systems.

People complaining about amd not competing with nvidia are insane. They competed and gave 80% of the performance for half the price. BUT NO ONE BOUGHT THEM. No company is going to compete just for the sake of keeping another company in check. If you wanted amd to compete you should have bought them and gave them the r&d funds instead of nvidia. Now the plan is probably to let nvidia get gpus to the point that they are so expensive they are not rely purchasable by the masses. (ces just showed this in action). Once everyone is used to paying 3k for a gpu they will drop back in with a nice reasonable offering, with a humble attitude and say hey....we have 80% the performance for half the price, give us a try. Probably once they get that fancy new interconnect hammered out so they can put multiple chips on a single board.
