I was a teen from the Nashville, Tennessee area when these songs came out. I protested that Pop/R&B Music like GQ's was better and the best than the Country Music of the day coming from Tammy Wynette and George Jones, Reba McEntire, Randy Travis, etc. I'm close to 60 in the 2020s, I still feel that way. I'm sad to hear one of the members of GQ has passed.

On this day in 1979 {May 12th} GQ performed "Disco Nights" and "I Do Love You" on the late Dick Clark's American Bandstand Two months eariler on March 17th "Disco Nights" entered Billboard's Hot Top 100; eventually it peaked at #12 and spent 18 weeks in the Top 100... On April 14th "Disco Nights" reached #1 {for 2 weeks} on Billboard's R&B chart... And one month later on June 30th "I Do Love You" entered the Top 100 and reached #20 and stayed 17 weeks in the Top 100... R.I.P. Mr. Clark...
