“The Thing” is one of the ten best movies of all time. People dismiss it as a horror movie, when in reality it’s so much more than that. It’s doesn’t scare you. It creates a permanent state of paranoia and uneasiness. A sense of existential dread. The music is amazing as well. It drives the atmosphere of the film. Can’t say enough about that movie.

Funny that you mentioned it I still know a lot of people that never did see that movie… I try and make sure that they do ! 😄 Just found my copy of “Soldier” unpacking a box of DVD’s last night, I haven’t seen it in about 5 years now but I used to watch it every few weeks. I totally love that movie and all the other Kurt Russell classics. He just plays those types of characters absolutely perfect. Legendary actor, Once you see him in a particular role you never forget it.

Tombstone and the bestest dvd twinpac ever Silverado/The Quick And The Dead goosebumps every time I watch them. Unforgiven, Rio Lobo, Sons Of Katie Elder, El Dorado, Hateful Eight, original True Grit, either Magnificent 7, and yeah, Mad Max, anything Eastwood spaghetti, best westerns ever, just the first three were perfect movies.

I was a kid and watched Kurt as Dexter Riley in the Walt Disney films, but he first impressed me as Elvis in the John Carpenter TV movie but really created a character in Rudy Russo in Used Cars!

Kurt's Santa is my favorite movie Santa of all time! He had such a young at heart, fun, sometimes stern, but always compassionate vibe about him. Tons of humor and a genuine twinkle in his eye! My favorite scene is when he's in jail with all of the "bad guys" and you knew they were probably all supposed to be on the naughty list but Santa loved them anyway and Kurt played that aspect of Santa brilliantly! I wish they would have given us more of what Kurt had to say about that role because it's my favorite role of his! I'm super glad to see he was so proud of it!

I didn't like it when I first saw it, but then I saw Mario Van Peeble's "SOLO" and discovered a newfound appreciation for Russel's Soldier. Even though Soldier came out 2 years after SOLO, I saw Soldier first, and boy oh boy, was SOLO a brick of sh*t.

I've been saying it for years that Kurt has by far the biggest ranges as an actor in all of Hollywood. He crushes absolutely any role he's in no matter how diverse the character is. Would have loved to hear more about some of his other early non-Carpenter/Tarantino roles such as Captain Ron and Overboard and how he's able to transition to completely different film genres so effortlessly.

I worked on 'Swing Shift' the film he and Goldie fell in love on. Took a chance once and walked into the makeup trailer knowing I could be fired to talk with him a bit. Was so down to earth, gracious guy, as he was with everyone always on set. Been too one of my favorite actors to this day. My best friends uncle Rob Botin created the special effects for The Thing. Now 'that' is the set I would have loved to be on. Kurt, famous since he was a kid 'Disney', yet still down to earth. They don't make them like that anymore.

I love how proud Kurt Russell is of Tombstone, that film is awesome. Apparently George P. Cosmatos was a ghost director and Kurt was the real director, hearing him talk about the film makes me think that story is true.
