Agent Cooper will forever be my favorite character in all of Television history. The sincerity and genuine enlightened humanity of that character has been etched into my conscience as a permanent reminder to act ethically, professionally, and always with a sense of compassion. There was a long time when I felt he did not get his due for being as good as he is. Even when something he was in, like Blue Velvet, got rave reviews, the praise would be more for the film or the show itself than for his performance. Maybe because he has a very steady presence, and he was sometimes sharing the screen with more flamboyant performers (Hopper and Rossellini in Blue Velvet, for example). But I think now, in his fifties, people are waking up and seeing how consistently good he's been.
